Why is training for shelter dogs so important? 🐾

Because training gives them a better chance at a forever home.

Many shelter and rescue dogs come with unknown histories. They may lack structure, confidence, boundaries, or the skills needed to succeed in a home environment. Training helps bridge that gap.

Roagie was found wandering the streets of Detroit with no known history. He's a happy boy with a lot of potential, but like many rescue dogs, he needed guidance, consistency, and clear communication.

Every command learned, every successful walk, and every confidence-building moment helps make him more adoptable and sets him up for a brighter future.

Training isn't just about obedience—it's about giving dogs like Roagie the tools they need to thrive. ❤️🐾

🐾 Pup Highlight: Roagie 🩷

Meet Roagie — a happy-go-lucky rescue boy with a big heart and an even bigger personality!
He was picked up off the streets of Detroit, so his past is a mystery. What we do know is that he's full of potential and ready for a fresh start. While he's learning that life comes with structure, boundaries, and expectations, he's also showing us just how eager he is to connect with people.

Right now, we're starting from the ground up.
✔️ Basic obedience
✔️ Impulse control
✔️ Keeping all four paws on the floor
✔️ Ignoring distractions
✔️ Building confidence and good manners

Like many dogs who haven't had consistency, Roagie can be reactive around other dogs, loves to investigate countertops, and thinks personal space is optional. 😅 But underneath it all is a sweet, affectionate boy who has already figured out that sitting politely earns him plenty of love and belly rubs.

Training isn't about creating a perfect dog—it's about giving dogs like Roagie the tools they need to succeed in a home and with a family. Every day he's learning, growing, and showing us more of the good boy we know he can be.

We can't wait to see who he becomes as his training journey continues. 🐾❤️

Creating a daily routine is one of the best ways to set your dog up for success. Consistent meal times, walks, potty breaks, exercise, and rest help build confidence, reduce unwanted behaviors, and create a strong foundation before training even begins.

With so many new followers and new owners
booking every day, it’s time for a reintroduction.

Meet Ashlind — dog trainer, owner of On Point K-9 Training, mom, and lifelong dog lover. 🐾

Her journey into dog training started the same way many of her clients find her… with a dog that just wouldn’t listen. What began as frustration quickly turned into fascination. She fell in love with obedience, structure, and the transformation that happens when dogs finally learn how to communicate.

Now she spends her days helping owners build clarity, confidence, and stronger relationships with their dogs through balanced, real-world training.
A little fun fact about her outside of training:
She loves ice cream (any season, any excuse), and a McDonald’s Coke is her go-to treat. After a long day of training she probably has one in her hand.
