Sandhills Pointing Breeds Club (SPBC) is a licensed AKC performance club. The training grounds are owned by SPBC and located in Jackson Springs, NC.

(updated 2025) (2025 Updated Page) The Sandhills Pointing Breeds Club offers an excellent set of training facilities for all types of pointing breeds. The grounds offer plenty of space for your dog to run and learn to use the wind and cover to locate birds. The club maintains a pigeon loft to provide club members with the opportunity to use pigeons to start their young dogs and a “Quail Condo” wh

ere members can maintain a personal supply of quail for the more advanced dogs. Periodically the club sponsors training classes for members.

Our recent Living With Your Bird Dog Workshop reminded us all that great field work starts at home. Leash walking without pulling, standing still on command, waiting for the release, coming when called, and impulse control — these are the foundations that make everything else (including bird work) smoother and more enjoyable. We spent the morning with Gretchen Chapman Stephenson turning chaos into calm and giving handlers practical skills they can practice in the yard, on walks, and in training sessions. Shoutout to all the dedicated handlers and their awesome dogs who joined us!

When Scandal and Cindi hit the field… they come home with ribbons! This past March, this ribbon-winning duo earned 3rd Place at the Slate River Bird Dog Club Walking Amateur Gun Dog Stake. Congratulations!

Big congrats to Scandal & Cindi Saylor! 🎉 When she’s not volunteering to organize our hunt tests and club events, Cindi and her Vizsla, Scandal, are out racking up the ribbons! In March, they earned the 1st Place 🥇 4-Point Major Walking Open Gun Dog at Wilderness Pointer Club of Virginia. SPBC is proud of your efforts and so grateful for all that Cindi does for our club.

REMINDER: On 09 May 2026, Gretchen Stephenson of Canine Manners and More is leading a seminar on Living with Your Bird Dog.

If you live with a high-energy bird dog, you already know the everyday stuff matters. How your dog behaves on leash, whether they can stand still when asked, whether they wait until released, and whether they respond when you call, those same things show up again when birds are involved. Gretchen Stephenson will spend the morning working on practical skills you can use at home and in training.
