We lost more than a building the day we said goodbye to the old clubhouse. We lost our meeting place — where stories were shared, laughter echoed, and memories made. It’s time to rebuild a lasting home for this community: a low-maintenance, all-metal clubhouse. We have something rare and special here. Only a few clubs like ours in the USA own (or long-term lease) their property.

The Sandhills Quail Habitat Foundation (our 501(c)(3) partner that owns the property) has generously contributed $30,000, leaving us to raise $45,000 from donations between July and December 2026 to complete construction by Spring 2027. Let’s protect and strengthen that legacy together.

Wishing all SPBC members, their families, dogs, and friends a safe, joyful, and memorable 4th of July. Thank you to the Contreras-Woodley family and their dog, Archer, for this fabulous display along the road — 50 flags flying proud! As we celebrate our country today, we’re also grateful for the community of handlers, trainers, and dog lovers who make SPBC what it is. Here’s to liberty, loyalty, our land, and lots of birds in the future. God bless America and our bird dogs🐕‍🦺🇺🇸

Heads up, hunting community.

This petition aims to ban all hunting with dogs (no distinction for upland, deer, or waterfowl dogs) and fi****ms in the Butner-Falls of Neuse Game Lands — and sets the stage to remove firearm hunting from all surrounding Falls Lake Game Lands.
The community of hunters with dog keep losing public land for safe dog work.
Consider submitting your comments by July 14 and speak up for our hunting and dog rights.
Share with your crew!

Did you know our training fields are home to longleaf pines still bearing the “catface” scars from the old turpentine industry? These markings tell the story of a once-thriving naval era, when resin was vital for shipbuilding and Southern commerce.

These resilient giants are a special part of the SPBC heritage that makes our club grounds so unique. Next time you’re training your bird dogs, take a moment to appreciate the living history around you.

Our recent Living With Your Bird Dog Workshop reminded us all that great field work starts at home. Leash walking without pulling, standing still on command, waiting for the release, coming when called, and impulse control — these are the foundations that make everything else (including bird work) smoother and more enjoyable. We spent the morning with Gretchen Chapman Stephenson turning chaos into calm and giving handlers practical skills they can practice in the yard, on walks, and in training sessions. Shoutout to all the dedicated handlers and their awesome dogs who joined us!
