Calico Field Spaniels

10/12/2026

39 years ago our first litter at Calico Field Spaniels was born on October 11, 1987. That litter was known as “The great eight”.

Raising litters for companionship is such a wonderful feeling. Our focus is on meeting the AKC standard and breeding for breed type, health, temperament, structural soundness, and longevity. We believe this focus creates ideal family companions who have the attributes to also be high achievers in the show ring or performance activities.

Oscar! Such a favorite and special boy, ably handled by Evie to a nice Best Veteran in Specialty award (and also showing Juniors in both all-breed and specialty shows). Oscar is GCHS CH Calico’s Lights Camera Action FCAT CGC (Partner x Celeste).

Chili! This boy couldn’t let his sister and half-brothers Kane & Kaber have all the fun! After earning some Qs at the scentwork trial toward Novice Elite titles, the team of Chili & Sofia were also awarded a Judge’s Choice award for Teamwork in their exterior scentwork search!

Then he gaited around the conformation ring and earned himself a Reserve Winners Dog award at the Sunday Designated specialty show which gave him a major win and 3 big points! Handled by owner Sofia Phelps, Chili is providing a first-time foray into conformation rings for Sofia and Thomas!

Chili is Calico’s Supa Hot Fire SWN (James x Flirt).

Stevie! Started the FRFSC specialty events off with some nice Qs in Novice Buried scent work. Thought I was close enough to finish the elite, but she needs to enter buried another time to do that! Continuing the roll of the “James kids”, Stevie added a 5-point specialty major, capped off by a Best Of Winners award, to her 4-point specialty major and her 2 point specialty win, so now has 11 big points towards her CH title! Super pleased that her points are all specialty points! She then capped it all off with a specialty Reserve WB award (at the same show as her littermate, Chili, was also Reserve WD…watch for that photo).
