PAAD: Promoting Animal ADoptions We are a group of volunteers working to Promote Animal ADoptions for the SPCA of Tompkins County (Ithaca, NY)

We are a group of volunteers working to Promote Animal ADoptions (PAAD) for the SPCA of Tompkins County (NY). The animals we feature on this page need a little extra boost for one reason or another. Some may have very specific requests for their new homes. Some have been waiting a long time to meet the right people. Some may have arrived at the TC SPCA with health problems, or with puppies or kitt

ens in tow, and needed extra time and care to be ready to join a family. Our goal is to show off these amazing animals with photos, videos, and information directly from the volunteers who hang out with them every week. Be sure to check out the SPCA's website for information about adopting a new pet and to see all the animals available for adoption: www.spcaonline.com/adopting-pets

Happy ! How are you celebrating this holiday? The dogs at the SPCA of Tompkins County are celebrating much like they celebrate life in general: with happy tail wags, full-body wiggles, and excited conversations!

Do you need more tail wags, wiggles, play, and love in your life? The SPCA can help with that!
🐾 If you're looking to add a dog to your family on a permanent basis, check out the dogs looking for homes: https://www.spcaonline.com/dogs

🐾 Maybe you'd love to share your home with a dog but for whatever reason it doesn't make sense to adopt a dog (you travel a lot, you don't know where life will take you next, your budget doesn't allow for it), consider fostering a dog! https://www.spcaonline.com/foster-family

🐾 If you're not able to adopt or foster a dog (you're a student, your apartment doesn't allow dogs, the other people, dogs or cats in your family said "NO!"), consider becoming a volunteer! https://www.spcaonline.com/volunteer

Happy y'all. Today, we’d love for you to meet pretty Nova!

At 53 pounds and 3 years old, Nova is a wonderfully lively, playful young pup who is always ready for fun. Whether it’s a romp in the fields or zooming around the yard, Nova is happiest when she’s out and about!

Nova’s joyful personality and energy weren’t the best match for her former family’s smaller child, so she’s hoping to find a home with sturdier, older kids who are ready to keep up with her playful spirit. Could that be your family?

Stop by the shelter to meet Nova or any of her friends SPCA of Tompkins County

Welcome to ! If today needs a little extra sunshine, allow us to introduce you to Cupid 💘

At just 8 months old, Cupid is already showing off some seriously impressive manners. This sweet young guy loves spending time with both his human and canine friends, and he’s lived with young children and cats too! He’s got quite a few basic manners down and is ready to keep learning with his forever family.

Cupid especially loves romping around with his BFF Scotch (black and white dog who is also available for adoption 😉), followed by one of their favorite activities - cooling off in the pool after a good play session.

If you’ve been thinking that a puppy might be the perfect addition to your family, come meet Cupid! Stop by the shelter SPCA of Tompkins County during our visiting hours and see if this sweet little heart-stealer is the one who has been waiting for you. 💕

Happy and slow blinks to Gracie! This sweet, plush gray lady is just 3 years old. Gracie is deaf, which means humans visiting her need to be sure she's seen us before we try to touch her. Once she's spotted someone she considers a friend, she'll come right over to boop hands and rub against legs. Just don't try to compete for her attention with wildlife outside the window. Those little critters outside claim her attention pronto!

Gracie is understandably particular about who she trusts in her living space, so she'd likely be happiest as your one and only. She's also looking for someone who's willing to let her drive the pace of any affection.

Deaf kitties are pretty amazing house mates - why not let Gracie be your next couch companion while you catch the game on tv? Stop by our adoption center Wednesday-Sundays: 12:00-4:30 PM (Thursday 6:30 PM), and take a pause with this gorgeous gem of a feline?

Happy everyone! Today, we’re featuring bestest boy Kirby, and we have to admit that we’re a little baffled. You see, Kirby has been with us for ONE YEAR. While Kirby goes about his merry days being his adorable, happy-go-lucky self, we can’t help but wonder how a family hasn’t scooped up this awesome boy yet!

To mark Kirby’s one-year milestone with us, one of our staff members made him a special cake, which he happily shared with all his friends. And because Kirby LOVES being outside, we followed that up with a pool party! 🏊‍♂️🎂

Kirby had a blast, as he always does. But what he really needs is someone who sees just how adorable, fun, and fabulous he is and says, “That’s my dog!”

Please spread the word about Kirby and help us find this wonderful boy the home he deserves ❤️🐾. If you might be interested, stop on by the shelter and meet this goofy fella! SPCA of Tompkins County

Happy ! 😸 It's a very special day to celebrate the specialness of cats! And they are so very special, with their whiskery faces, soft silky fur, and cute little toe beans. Not to mention the adorable meows, purrs and chirps they make.

The SPCA of Tompkins County has lots of great cats to celebrate! Young cats. Older cats. Stripey cats. Splotchy-patterned cats. Solid color cats. Cats who want to play. Cats who want to cuddle. Cats who can't decide what exactly they want but you should be ready to accommodate them when they do decide.

The cats will be interviewing potential adopters during open hours: Wednesday-Sunday, noon-4:30 or Thursday, noon-6:30 pm. Stop by to meet them! You'll find a reason to celebrate cats. 😻
