At long last!! Our first posture article is published! And one of Liz Reese's photographs of our experimental research was chosen to be featured on the cover of the journal, Biology Open. Here is a link to the article. You can download a pdf from the site and share among friends and students. Please share widely!!

Summary: Without stabilizing muscles, a standing horse is unstable. The bigger the spacing between fore and hind hooves, the less muscular effort needed for stabilization.

Thanks Ashley, Precision Hoof Care for sharing this image. It takes a lot of training to “read” a hoof capsule from the outside, but fortunately you can get a lateral radiograph if your farrier doesn’t know how. Unfortunately, if they don’t know how to read a hoof capsule, they may not know how to fix these problems 😿.

Hey Friends—
I have a car maintenance issues that needs me to drive 60-80 miles tomorrow, Tuesday. So if anyone out there wants me to look at a beast 25-40 miles away, I would be happy to waive the travel fee...just can’t bring myself to drive around for hours with no destination! Call me!
