Description: In this talk, Dr. Campbell, author of the famous China Study, will discuss the optimal diet for athletes: a whole-foods plant-based diet. He will present research that demonstrates the benefits of a plant-based diet. He will also show how this diet can maximize an athlete's nutritional and energy needs. After Dr. Campbell's discussion, Seba Johnson, the youngest person and the first black woman to ski at the olympics. will recount her experiences as a vegan olympian. Our session will wrap up with a Q and A that will allow audience members to engage with both of our speakers.

HAPPY JUNETEENTH and thank you to everyone who participated in our social media fundraiser for ! We were able to raise a total of $350, which we have split and donated to The Bail Project and Cornell Students 4 Black Lives.

We acknowledge that the fight for racial equality and justice is far from over. We are committed to doing our part to ensure that we can exist in a less oppressive society and world, by using our voices, educating ourselves and others, examining our own privilege, and challenging longstanding beliefs. We urge you to do the same - today and every day.

Central to the principles of veganism is the rejection and condemnation of the brutalization and commodification of bodies. For hundreds of years now, Black individuals have experienced countless and unspeakable injustices by white America and the ostracization of their voices, identities, and worth. By failing to speak up in defense of Black lives with the same veracity and compassion that we have for nonhuman animal rights, we fail the vegan movement in its entirety. In our fight for animal liberation, we have to strive for collective liberation and unequivocal solidarity with other movements fighting for liberation and justice. Furthermore, we owe it to Black people in this community to fight for them and reaffirm that we are accepting and grateful for the Black individuals, activists, and thinkers among us. We recognize that social justice movements like ours have been made possible especially by the leadership of q***r and trans Black activists. Without this acknowledgment and solidarity, we are doomed to fail as a movement. We must reflect upon the internal biases that allow us to take passionate action for animals in a slaughterhouse but not the countless of Black individuals murdered by the police in cold blood. Inaction feeds the status quo, inaction perpetuates today’s violent realities, and inaction IS a choice.

The Cornell Vegan Society and Students for Animal Rights stand with Black Lives Matter. We will continue our commitment to amplify Black voices within the vegan movement. In the spirit of extending compassion to all lives, we will donate $1 for every interaction with this post to National Bailout funds and efforts to feed vegan food to protesters on the front line. $1 will be donated every time you:

Police brutality kills. Police violence that is geared towards black and indigenous people of color has been an ongoing issue ever since the police was established.

There are uncountable cases of police not being held accountable for arbitrary violence and the murder of Black people and people of color.
These are also not isolated cases and should not be viewed as such; they are interconnected and deeply rooted in both structural and individual racism.

Black lives matter.
