The idea of Bruno’s Backyard started out many years ago as an indoor dog park, providing a climate-controlled area that dogs would play at any time of year. While attending school online for a Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, I was always being asked for a business card to train dogs when walking Bruno in the 1-2 mile radius of our home. Bruno’s calm and balanced energy usually offset

s other dogs that normally did not get along with others. I learned early to let Bruno experience the situation and show me what I needed to do for the other dog. After completing my engineering degree, I officially started training as Bruno’s Backyard where I provide dog training for dog owners and dogs. In teaching the dog its boundaries, I look to find the balances between the dog's energy to promote calm, learning experiences. When teaching the dog its boundaries, I provide the tools to the owner to have better communication with the dog to maintain a healthy and productive pack. In the short time Bruno’s Backyard has been operating, we have expanded to provide homemade dehydrated treats with the ability to accommodate diet specific needs upon request. Future hopes for Bruno’s Backyard is to have an indoor dog park with an onsite open kennel rescue area. The indoor park would have an exercise area for people and dogs. I hope to also open a senior dog sanctuary - no senior dog should live their remaining days at a shelter because they are old. Currently, my hours for training are on weekends (Saturday and Sunday), 9:00am to 11:30am (year round) and 3:00pm to 7:00pm (not in summer, though). I can accommodate weekday sessions in emergency situations only. Bruno’s Backyard list of treats include: Chicken Tenders, Turkey Tenders, Sweet Potato Chews, Duck Cookies, and Turkey Cookie.

Happy National Love Your Pet Day!

My life with dogs started with my boy Bruno. He was a 3 month old Lab Catahoula leopard mix (becoming an 80 pound dog) that taught me how to communicate and understand dogs. �Without Bruno’s guidance I would not have understood my kind hearted soul Bella (middle basset hound Catahoula mix), or the rambunctious pitty Boston terrier mix Cinnamon who’s tense energy helped define play versus aggressive actions. Through the years these various energies helped my wife and I foster 16 long term dogs and get them adopted. �My pack taught me how to give unconditional love, patience, and leadership to my dogs and all my client dogs. Even the toughest of dogs end up understanding when my guidance gives them and shows me adoration for it.��This leads us to Charlie. My wife actually found this boy at on of our clients house that is part of a cocker spaniel rescue. The way Charlie immediately warmed up to my wife lead her to introduce Charlie to me. Our friend said Charlie was a really good boy but not always dog friendly. Thanks to all of my past kids guidance I was able to quickly calm Charlie down to meet Bruno and Cinnamon. Once I saw how Charlie “listened” to me and my directions I WAS smitten by Charlie. The past 5 years of our journey together has lead to many new four legged friends and Charlie’s natural playful nature can help calm the most tense dogs!❤️😁

It’s hard to believe this year is nearly half way through… it’s times like this that you wonder where the time went and take measure of what goals for the year you’ve yet needing to tackle.

Reflective moments like this makes one really appreciate the metaphor of “taking time to smell the roses.”

I utilize cameras in my alley to check traffic when coming and going from my house. One camera captured one of THOSE moments that you just have to stop and enjoy. I hope all of Bruno’s Backyard also gets as much satisfaction of watching my fence friend as I did!
