Sandy's Pet Sitting Update

Hello to all of my wonderful clients, friends and pets.
I wanted to reach out and give everyone an update on me. As most of you know, I have been having some pretty serious health concerns since August 2025. I was diagnosed on March 5th with stage 4 esophageal cancer. I have already had 3 rounds of chemo and 2 rounds of immunotherapy. I will be going out of town with Brian to a family wedding from May 7th to 12th, and then
start back to work on the 13th. I will continue treatments for the foreseeable future. This cancer is considered terminal, but I am going to fight to stay here. That being said, I will need to be taking care of myself and allowing my body to heal. I will most likely be putting a limit on my daily stops(no more 20+ stops a day). We are also planning a trip in September from the 3rd to the 8th. I will be taking off for Christmas this year, but PLAN on working Thanksgiving!!!
I just wanted to update everyone, as your pets and your peace of mind are always my first concerns when anything comes up.
I will continue to pet sit(when I am able)and if you have dates on the books with me feel free to reach out to discuss any thoughts/concerns that you might be having about those dates or anything else.
I have been in touch with a couple of other pet sitters and am happy to send you their information.

Much love to all of my fur, feathered, finned and hooved kids and my amazing clients. I have had a rough few months health-wise. Praying for answers that should be coming soon. I need to be back at my best for all of you!!! Much love from this pet sitter to each and every one of you!!!!!

I just felt like I owed to these sweet kitties to share their darling faces. Shasta and Wh**ey are simply gorgeous kitties. They like to play and chase each other, but on their own terms.

This place is a truly amazing thing to see. My husband and I have stayed there a few times and they all do their work with love and abandon in their heart. If you can help please do!!!!

** STORM DAMAGE UPDATE ** We are happy to report that all the animals are fine, and their care has continued as normal. However, the damage from the recent storms have created some difficulties around the refuge. See the damages list below:

** Our primary well has sustained severe damage. Fortunately, we have a backup system in place, and with the help of our maintenance team, we were able to provide water to everyone over the weekend until the well repair company can come out next week. The estimated cost for the repairs to the primary well is $19,800.

** Additionally, the internet equipment around the refuge was damaged and needs to be replaced. This has left our office without internet access, and the Freedom Field Web Cams are also offline. The cost to replace this equipment is estimated at $5,000.

** Our main phone system has been knocked out and will need to be replaced; the cost is still to be determined.

** One of our main office computers was damaged and needs to be replaced as soon as possible; the cost for this is also yet to be determined.

** Maintenance has been busy clearing fallen trees off the roadways to ensure that the care teams can reach the animals for feeding and cleaning, which was our top priority and was accomplished quickly.

Thanks to the new generators from last year, the refuge was not without power!! HUGE THANK YOU to all who helped with that last year because it made a significant difference during this year's storms.
