Their forever homes are out there… but right now, they’re waiting on you.

Our shelter is still overflowing with cats and kittens, and the need for adoptions is becoming more urgent every day.

Every kennel is a cat waiting for someone to choose them. The playful ones, the shy ones, the lap warmers, and the ones who just need a little extra love.

We don’t need everyone to adopt. We just need the right people to see this post.

🏡 Adopt if you can.

🐾 Share if you can’t.

❤️ Help us make room for the next cat who needs us.

Can’t adopt? Our wish list is growing, too!

With so many cats and kittens in our care, we’re going through supplies faster than ever!

Our biggest needs right now:

🐱 Iams Kitten Dry Food (purple bag)

🐱 Iams Adult Dry Food (orange bag)

🐱 Royal Canin Mother & Babycat Wet Food

🐱 Wellness Kitten Canned Food

🐱 Tiny Tiger Canned Food

Every donation helps us care for the cats already here and those still waiting to come through our doors.

We have the cats. We just need the homes. ❤️

Be sure to comment on the original post!! Let's get some cats moving... the bunnies heard they laot their space and are taking over our lounge in protest😻🐰

UPDATE: Wow! All 12 business spots have been filled. 🎉 Thank you to everyone who signed up! We can't wait to introduce you to all of our amazing business and cat teams on Monday.

🚨 Calling all Iowa City area businesses! 🚨

Want to help a shelter cat find a home?

Next week we're launching The Great Cat Countdown, a week of fun challenges to help get cats adopted from the Iowa City Animal Care & Adoption Center.

Here's how it works: Every participating business will be paired with one adoptable shelter cat. We'll send you a flyer featuring your cat that you can print, display in your business, or share on social media all week long. Then we'll see which business can help their cat find a forever home first!

We'll announce all of the participating businesses and their feline teammates on Monday, then share adoption updates throughout the week as cats find their forever homes. 💜

Interested in participating? Comment below by tomorrow afternoon, and we'll send you your cat's flyer and information!
Let's see how many cats we can help find homes together! 🐾

🐱 CATURDAY — AND WE ARE BUSTING AT THE SEAMS. 🐱

When we say we have cats everywhere… we mean EVERYWHERE.

Our cat spaces are full. Our extra spaces are full. We are even using our brand-new rabbit cages to house cats because we simply have nowhere else to put them.

And sitting in all those spaces are some of the BEST lap warmers in town, just waiting for a couch and a person of their own. ❤️

Lemony, Sid, Scarlett, Mug and SO many others are ready to trade shelter life for home life.

🏠 If you’ve been thinking about adopting, NOW is the time.
🐾 Adopt and open a space for the next cat who needs us.
📣 Can’t adopt? PLEASE SHARE. You never know whose future lap warmer is sitting here waiting.

This Caturday, help us make some room. Because right now, we truly don’t have any to spare

Today is Pet Hunger Awareness Day!

One of the most common reasons pets are surrendered or rehomed is due to the rising cost of owning and caring for a pet. We offer a pet food/supplies pantry accessible during our open hours (M-F 10:30am-5:30pm and Saturdays 10:30am-3pm) that includes dog and cat wet and dry food, cat litter, treats and more. ICAC takes pride in being a resource for pet help in our community.

Don’t need our pantry but want to help? Order from our Amazon wish list, stop by with unused pet food, or purchase new food through Leash on Life or other pet stores in the area to donate directly to us! https://a.co/06PPxlxs

Just Nermal over here looking 👀for a new Kennel Assistant, could it be you?!

If you've got your 🧡 set on a career in animal welfare, this position is a great starting point that could help pave the way for other opportunities! You'll learn the basics of animal husbandry in a fast-paced environment, while supporting the animals and humans in our community. The kitten snuggles are a bonus and the pet hair and slobber is a job hazard.

⭐️Those interested in applying should visit https://www8.iowa-city.org/WebLink/DocView.aspx?id=2283242&dbid=0&repo=CityofIowaCity for more information.

**Nermal is a former ICAC resident circa 2024 and is not available for adoption, but clearly he's got a place in our hearts.💙
