💚🐾 **Happy Vet Tech Week!** 🐾💚

It's Vet Tech Week, and we want to take a minute to recognize our awesome technicians here at Red Barn Veterinary Service!

If you've ever wondered what our techs do all day, the answer is pretty much EVERYTHING! From helping with exams, surgeries, and dentals to running lab work, caring for hospitalized patients, drawing blood, monitoring anesthesia, and helping with our large animal patients, they stay busy! And that's not even counting the cleaning, laundry, answering questions, and all the little things that keep the clinic running. 😂

Being a vet tech isn't always an easy job. It takes a lot of patience, hard work, compassion, and the ability to go from cuddling a puppy to helping in the barn with the cattle and everything in between. Some days they're covered in fur, others in slobber, and occasionally in things we probably shouldn’t talk about on Facebook. 😂

We are lucky to have a great group of technicians who work hard and care for our patients every day. They do so much behind the scenes that often goes unnoticed, and we couldn't care for your pets without them!

So this week, we're celebrating our Techs! Thank you for everything you do for our patients, our clients, and our team. We appreciate you more than you know! 💚

💓🐾 Get ready for a serious case of cute-itis! 🤣

Meet Miss Malee, the tiny Siamese sweetie who's already got the whole 'who, me?' innocent act down pat 😂. This week, we got to meet this little munchkin and go over her master plan for taking over the world... just kidding, it was just her first health checkup 😂. And, of course, she gave the front desk staff a sweet little hello to seal the deal! Thanks to Malee's "dad" for bringing her in and choosing us to help keep her healthy!

💓🐾Our Staff Spotlight today is Dr. Macy Flowers!

⭐Dr. Macy has been a huge asset to our team and we are very fortunate that she decided to return to her southeast Kansas roots after graduation! She embodies the “work hard, play hard” motto. She is a ray of sunshine in every room she walks in, you can hear her giggle across the clinic, and is very efficient with any and every case that is asked of her- everything from exotics, reptiles, chickens, and pretty much any other creature that is seeking care, this is your girl! Having grown up around the clinic she has had a flawless transition into a doctor role. Having those long arms that were useful to be a D1 Volleyball player also comes in handy when it comes to wrangling cats or pregnancy checking cows! When Dr. Macy isn’t saving lives, performing surgeries, or cackling with clients in an exam room, she enjoys walking her pack of dogs that includes 2 Aussies, 1 "ditch mutt", and caring for her cat, named Cat. She also is known to be the secret recruit to various coed volleyball teams that sweep southeast Kansas in various tournaments and leagues. Dr. Macy stays very busy also spending time with friends and family!

⭐🐾Today's Staff Spotlight is our very own Dr. Flowers!

😻THE Dr. Flowers is a calm, cool, collected presence that brings wisdom, experience, and grace to the clinic. There is usually a remarkable wait to be seen by Dr. Flowers, which is a testament to the quality of care she gives not only to the pets, but the owners, too. She genuinely cares about her patients and takes the time to really talk with their owners to address each and every concern. Dr. Flowers is also known for her herd of Mini American Shepherds and one lone Lab. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, walking her dogs, and the occasional scary movie. She has great patience and appreciation for the support staff and makes them feel truly valued. Dr. Flowers also specializes in dental procedures. Her hidden talent, besides being an Olympic quality Pickleballer, is wrangling the "Fightin' Toms" that don't always enjoy their visits. She has a passion for keeping dogs in shape and well behaved. She is wise, genuine, kind and keeps positive, professional vibes a priority in the clinic.

🐾⭐Our Staff Spotlight today is Christine, AKA Chris!!

You can find Chris working at the front desk on Saturday mornings, and we greatly appreciate how genuine and caring she is! She consistently shows up early, does a great job, and does little things that make a big difference. Chris is very thoughtful, easy to talk to, and has a passion for animals and people that make her so essential to our team! We are so glad that she is with us, even if it is just for one day a week! Chris also has quite the green thumb, taking care of the plants in the clinic as well as spending her free time doing gardening of her own, sewing, reading, and doing crafts.

🐾⭐Today's Staff Spotlight is Dr. Southwell!

Dr. Southwell brings a mellow, steady energy to the clinic that provides the perfect balance to the rest of the team. He is always up for a challenge and enjoys working with a wide variety of patients, from small animals to equine and large animal cases. Whether he’s in the clinic, out in the field, or tackling a complicated case, you can count on him to be calm, witty, and thorough. When he’s not saving lives, Dr. Southwell has somehow turned math tutoring into a fun clinic activity, hosting impromptu math sessions with the technicians. He also occasionally gives up his desk to his four-legged coworkers, proving that even the most organized doctor knows when to let the animals take charge. He is a valued part of the team and brings a great mix of knowledge, versatility, and mellow energy to everything he does. Dr. Southwell enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife, Carson, who you may occasionally see around the clinic too!
