We are located on thirteen acres and provide permanent sanctuary to aggressive birds while providing a safe haven for our human imprinted birds while they await for the right person to come into their lives. Our flock is fed a daily diet of fresh and cooked meals, pellets and nuts. A seed mix treat is provided 3 times per week. Diet and nutrition are vital to having happy and healthy parrots. Fres

h and cooked vegetables are fed daily in some form or another. Vegetables are baked in breads, served with rice or pasta, mixed in with cooked beans or given fresh or steamed. Fruits are only fed 3 times per week due to the high sugar content in most fruits. Volunteers are needed for a variety of tasks at the sanctuary. We are always looking for people to assist in cleaning aviary's, preparing meals, socializing with the birds, social media, office work and fundraising. If you are in the Citrus County area or know someone who is and are interested in volunteering, please email [email protected]. We are open to the public Monday through Saturday from 10am till 5pm. We welcome your donated household goods for yard sale fundraisers as well as donations of parrot related items such as cages, food and toys. Gift cards and monetary donations are always welcome and appreciated. Ziggy's Haven is a no kill sanctuary and we feel we must be a voice for those whose voice goes unheard. Parrots are still wild animals and should be respected. We provide education to those interested in welcoming a feathered companion into their home and encourage adopting a parrot over purchasing a parrot. Should you choose to purchase a parrot, we ask that you locate a breeder who allows parents to raise the chicks. Parent raised birds have shown to be more social and have less behavior issues than those birds pulled from their parents and hand or tube fed. As always, we prefer and recommend adoption over purchase!
