Some weeks remind us just how much these animals need us.
The last several days have brought an overwhelming number of animals through our doors, each arriving with a story no animal should have to live.
An 11-year-old Husky came to us needing to be spayed, vaccinated, and receive long-overdue veterinary care.
Tucker, a 3 year old Yorkie with malignant melanoma and a heartbreaking prognosis.
Mercedes, a 15-year-old senior, appears to have been abandoned and has since been diagnosed with end-stage kidney failure. Our goal now is simply to make whatever time she has left filled with love, comfort, and dignity.
Roscoe, a 13-year-old Chihuahua, lost his owner last week. Instead of spending his senior years in the home he knew, he’s starting over.
Then came Rocky and Tank, two Great Danes. Rocky appeared to have been hit by a car before arriving, requiring X-rays and veterinary care. Thankfully, nothing was broken, but he’s now recovering on medication. Both boys are intact and will need to be neutered, which is significantly more expensive because of their size.
And just when we thought our hands were full, Bullet, Nugget, and Beans were abandoned by their owners. None of the three are spayed or neutered, none are vaccinated, and all now depend on us to provide the medical care they deserve before they can begin new lives.
Meanwhile, our shelter is overflowing with cats, and many of our kittens are reaching the age where they need to be spayed or neutered before they can be adopted.
The need never seems to slow down, but neither does our commitment to these animals.
Right now, we’re facing thousands of dollars in unexpected veterinary expenses—surgeries, vaccinations, X-rays, medications, exams, and ongoing care. If you’re able to make a donation, no matter the amount, you’ll be helping us continue saying “yes” when animals have nowhere else to turn.
