Itā€™s pretty incredible where a passion for dogs can take you.

Over the years, Iā€™ve been fortunate enough to travel, learn from some incredible people, build friendships, and experience opportunities I never would have imagined when I first started this journey.

What started as simply wanting to become a better dog trainer has opened doors I didnā€™t even know existed.

Iā€™m incredibly grateful for the people who have invested in me, believed in me, and given me opportunities along the way.

Iā€™ve always believed that knowledge is meant to be shared.

Lately, Iā€™ve been working on something that brings together a lot of those experiences and a passion for helping people discover just how much their dogs are capable of.

Thereā€™s another adventure on the horizon, and this one has been a long time coming.

How Iā€™m working through resource guarding with just a long line.

Before this session, I taught Bastin to yield to directional leash pressure. That gives me a way to create distance from the food when I need to.

If he reacts when I touch his food dish, I donā€™t yell or back away. I stay still and neutral, then cue him to sit or down to help him regulate his emotions. Once he settles, I pay him by letting him go back to his food dish.

The goal is to build cooperation around something he values, not more conflict.

This is a short look at Bastinā€™s training journey, not a step-by-step exercise to try with a dog who may bite.

Any dog can listen when itā€™s calm. The hard part is listening when theyā€™re fired up. One of my favorite exercises is getting a dog amped with play, then ask for control right in the peak of it. Excited and still thinking.
