🐶☀️ Summer fun and water go hand in hand… but not every dog is a natural swimmer.
Water safety matters whether you’re headed to the pool, lake, river, beach, or out on the boat.
Keep your dog safer this summer:
🌊 Never assume your dog can swim well—even breeds known for loving water can panic, tire, or struggle in currents
🦺 Use a properly fitted canine life jacket for boating, paddleboarding, deep water play, or uncertain swimmers
🌊 Watch for exhaustion
Swimming is hard work. Fatigue can happen fast, especially in heat.
🧂 Rinse after swimming
Saltwater, pool chemicals, lake bacteria, and algae can irritate skin, eyes, and ears
🚫 Discourage drinking pool, lake, or ocean water
Too much can lead to vomiting, diarrhea, salt toxicity, or dangerous water intoxication
🌿 Watch for blue-green algae warnings
Some algae blooms are rapidly fatal to dogs
🐾 Check entry and exit points
Dogs can panic if they can’t find a safe way out of a pool or shoreline
👀 Supervision is non-negotiable
Even strong swimmers should never be left unattended around water
A fun day at the water can turn into an emergency fast. Prevention matters.
💬 Does your dog love swimming—or would they rather stay on shore?
