🐾 Can You See Your Dog? 🐾

When we think about water safety, we often focus on whether our dog can swim. But there’s another important question:

👀 Can you actually see your dog in the water?

A dog’s coat color, water conditions, distance, waves, and glare can all affect visibility. In an emergency, the faster you can spot your dog, the faster you can help them.

Our graphic shows how different dog colors appear in the water and how various life jacket colors stand out—or disappear.

💛 Neon Yellow
💚 Neon Green
🧡 Orange
🩷 Hot Pink

These bright colors tend to provide the best visibility in most water conditions.

🌊 Dark colors like black, gray, and dark blue can blend into the water, making them harder to spot from shore or a boat.

🐶☀️ Summer fun and water go hand in hand… but not every dog is a natural swimmer.

Water safety matters whether you’re headed to the pool, lake, river, beach, or out on the boat.

Keep your dog safer this summer:

🌊 Never assume your dog can swim well—even breeds known for loving water can panic, tire, or struggle in currents

🦺 Use a properly fitted canine life jacket for boating, paddleboarding, deep water play, or uncertain swimmers

🌊 Watch for exhaustion
Swimming is hard work. Fatigue can happen fast, especially in heat.

🧂 Rinse after swimming
Saltwater, pool chemicals, lake bacteria, and algae can irritate skin, eyes, and ears

🚫 Discourage drinking pool, lake, or ocean water
Too much can lead to vomiting, diarrhea, salt toxicity, or dangerous water intoxication

🌿 Watch for blue-green algae warnings
Some algae blooms are rapidly fatal to dogs

🐾 Check entry and exit points
Dogs can panic if they can’t find a safe way out of a pool or shoreline

👀 Supervision is non-negotiable
Even strong swimmers should never be left unattended around water

A fun day at the water can turn into an emergency fast. Prevention matters.

💬 Does your dog love swimming—or would they rather stay on shore?
