Did you know Oct 18th-24th is Veterinary Technician Appreciation Week?
During this week, we will be shining a spotlight on our highly talented Vet Tech. Veterinary technicians are often described as the “back bone” of the veterinary world, and for good reason. Veterinary technicians, also referred to as veterinary nurses, are responsible for a wide variety of skilled tasks to keep the hospital running. A few of the common duties a vet tech may perform on an average day include: administering immunizations & medications, obtaining & running lab samples, communicating with & educating pet owners, taking radiographs (x-rays), administering various treatments & therapies, completing full dental prophylaxis (professional teeth cleaning), running anesthesia & assisting the veterinarian in surgery, admitting patients into the hospital, providing compassionate nursing care, advocating for patients, supporting the human-animal bond, and SO much more. Veterinarians would not be able to do their jobs without the support of the veterinary nursing team. This week, don’t forget to appreciate your local veterinary technician!
