👏👏This was such an amazing lesson. Off in the distance you'll see Mabel in the red harness. She is incredibly dog reactive. When we planned to meet in downtown Fishers this past Tuesday we had forgotten about their summer concert series every Tuesday evening. We got several really good repetitions where Mabel didnt react even though she clearly wanted to. We need way more good repetitions to get Mabel where she is going but this was a big step in the right direction. And a big kudos to my helper puppies who did wonderfully under pressure. Pictured here is Nova, the 3 month old English lab. I will add Marco, the 3 month old goldendoodle in the comments.

By the way, if I want a dog that can handle the activity and stimulation level of an event like this I start smaller - attending the event set up (like pictured here) several times before going to the actual event. Ease them into it.

Look at her GO! Zeta had her third session with and is getting comfortable enough to really GO. Zoomie squad's van is outfitted with two slatmills. A slatmill is a dog powered treadmill - it goes as fast (or as slow) as the dog chooses to move. At 10 years old Zeta still chooses FAST and topped out at 5.7 mph! If your dog needs a little exercise and confidence building this is a fantastic option!

Bruno, Foster, and I had a booth at Pet Pride today. 🐾🌈

What an adventure!

Pet Pride was held on a bridge over the White River, and the wind was relentless. My booth setup was a bit of a disaster from the start. I brought a fun dog trivia spinner, but the wind claimed it almost immediately.

Despite the weather, we met so many wonderful people and their dogs. We handed out free pup cups, bandanas, and other goodies. A few brave pups even gave the teeter board a try! Mostly, though, we spent the day doing what dog people do best—talking about dogs. 🥰

Then the weather took a turn. The wind got stronger, and the rain moved in. A few kind people helped me hold onto my tent, and we managed to stay mostly dry… until a powerful gust lifted the tent right off the ground. It flipped, bent, and started to take flight, but the people around us jumped in to help. Together, we caught it and got it taken down safely.

Thank goodness for the kindness of strangers.

The next gust took another tent, and this time the outcome was less fortunate. It sailed over the bridge railing and disappeared into the river within moments. Event tents sink surprisingly fast.

At that point, we all agreed it was time to pack up and call it a day.

Rain or shine, it’s a privilege to be part of an event where everyone is welcomed, accepted, and celebrated for who they are. ❤️

Margot, the golden retriever, just LOVES life and historically shows that love with extreme exuberance. Gnawing. Nibbling. No personal space. Knocking kids over. Stealing their food. Hu***ng the neighbor kids 🫠

at our final lesson the grown ups stepped inside. One kiddo had a snack.

The kids ran the yard end to end, played in the hammock and just got to be kids.

And Margot got to join. And Margot ran and played and zoomed too.

No one knocked over. No one got bit. No one was hu**ed (😬).

No one cried.

Just joy.

Margot will still be tightly supervised. But now her owners can breathe. And raise their kids with the dog they deserve and dreamed of having.

We had plans for Luna to do training in June but her owners called me at their wits end with her biting, chewing, stealing, crazy antics so we moved up her training by a month. Luna is A LOT. So much they said her middle name was Tic (Luna Tic😆). They couldn't even pet her (or walk around lol) without being bit. If she wasn't biting she was chewing the decor or stealing to incite a game of keep away. I wouldn't want to live like that either.

I returned a dog who hasn't put her teeth on skin in weeks. Who not only knows basic obedience but is easy to live with and listens when someone tells her to stop. Her human brother is no longer afraid of her. She's even shaping up to be a great camping dog.

And she didn't lose any of her s***k or personality. She's still goofy as could be.

This testimonial isn't abnormal or some kind of extra special job that I want to highlight. This testimonial is what I do. I want you to enjoy life with your dog to the fullest.

I'm so proud of Luna and her family and look forward to seeing her mature.

Guys I have gigs on gigs of content I've never shared so to clean up my phone I will be posting the videos I can't stand to delete.

Maverick is the one who I posted a before leash walking video where I swore and said something along the lines of "how in the expletive does your mom ever walk you". Well, we got a handle on his leash walk in low distraction settings but the big goal was public access. Here you can see Mav and his mom navigate a very busy store while remaining under control. He is clearly over stimulated and "jumping at the bit" but with repetition he will settle into a calm leash walk even under distraction.

The tools we used were chosen specifically for Maverick's situation and a mom fresh off of shoulder surgery. Please don't attempt the use of these tools without the guidance of a professional.

What happens in your house when you pick up something the dog wants? If it is anything short of this I'd like to introduce you to SAY PLEASE or Nothing In Life Is Free. It's so simple - your dog gets *nothing* from you unless they give you (pay) calm polite behavior first. With consistency you'll see the jumping, barking, nudging all go away and get replaced with this - calmness.

The message we are sending to the dog is - crazy gets you nothing, calm gets you everthing.

Result - Default setting is to "say please" with calm, polite behavior

Be sure you don't absent minded reward unwanted behaviors. You'd be surprised what you do when your brain is on autopilot.
