Today, we have the privilege of neutering a return patient to our clinic, Otis! Otis is a male tortoiseshell cat. Male Tortis are rare, approximately 1 in every 3,000+ cats. They receive their tri-color markings from an additional chromosome (XXY), thereby allowing them to have both orange and black markings.

Additionally, male Tortis are almost always sterile, so why do we neuter them? Neutering eliminates the unpleasant marking smell of an intact cat and has long term health benefits like the reduction of cancer and other diseases. So even though most male Tortis won't add to the pet overpopulation crisis, there is still great reason to have them neutered. We're happy to oblige for our friend, Otis!

If you're having spay problems we feel bad for you, son.
We got 99 problems, but kittens ain't one.

Actually, our 99 problems are cats. All cats. Today is another Spay Day at FACE and we'll be providing our Trap-Neuter-Return services to 99 cats! Thanks to the dedicated work of our caretakers and partner organizations, and bolstered by donations by people like you, we are able to keep community cats and the neighborhoods where they live healthy.

“American Cats: The Good, The Bad, and The Cuddly” is a production of Clawson & Clawson Cinematics, LLC. The film presents a withering takedown of US veterinary trade associations, which should be advocating animal wellness, but instead perpetuate the lie that declawing is a harmless and necessary procedure. Correspondent Amy Hoggart (“Full Frontal with Samantha Bee”) with Paw Project veterinarians and animal advocates bring viewers along on a journey to uncover the truth about the profit-driven motivation for advocating this needless and barbaric procedure, which can have devastating effects on cats.

Stay after the film for remarks by FACE DVM Dr. Carter!
