Pet Friendly Services We fund low-cost spay/neuter surgeries. The organization expanded over time and now supports the work of rescue groups and shelters across the state.

Pet Friendly Services is Indiana's statewide animal welfare organization whose mission is to eliminate the euthanasia of adoptable cats and dogs through financial assistance, education, and advocacy. Pet Friendly Services of Indiana was formerly known as Spay-Neuter Services of Indiana (SNSI), which began serving limited-income pet lovers in central Indiana in 1977. Pet Friendly Services provides free and discounted spay/neuter surgeries to animal rescues and people in need thanks to revenues received from the Pet Friendly license plate, grants, donations, fundraisers, and bequests. We partner with a network of compassionate and caring veterinarians who perform surgeries at reduced rates so that we can move Indiana to zero kill. Mission
Pet Friendly Services is a statewide animal welfare organization whose mission is to eliminate the euthanasia of adoptable cats and dogs through financial assistance, education, and advocacy. Vision
The vision of Pet Friendly Services is to help every Indiana animal shelter reach and maintain zero-kill status through financial assistance and education, as well as advocate on State and local levels for effective and humane animal welfare legislation while serving as a successful model for other states throughout the country. What We Do
Pet Friendly Services runs 3 targeted programs, proven to reduce shelter intake and unnecessary euthanasia. With fewer animals, shelters are able to better care for the animals already in the shelter, increase adoption rates, and increase morale among staff members. We also host the annual Indiana Animal Welfare Conference, bringing our state’s shelters and rescue groups together for a day of learning and networking so we can continue to increase the number of lives we save.

Meet some of the fixed & fabulous cats helped by our SNAP program: Pepper, Dexter, & Lucy!

These lucky cats have someone looking out for them, but caring for so many animals isn't easy.

"I live out in the country where a lot of drop-offs happen. I have adopted over 13 cats and found homes for dozens of kittens. It is very stressful, but I am so happy for SNAP's help."

Stories like this are exactly why our Spay-Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP) exists.

When cats are abandoned in rural communities, compassionate people often step in to provide food, shelter and care. But the costs add up quickly, especially when more cats keep arriving.

Through SNAP, Pet Friendly Services helps income-qualified Indiana residents access affordable spay/neuter surgeries for just $50 per pet, preventing more unwanted litters and helping people continue caring for the animals who depend on them.

We're grateful for people who open their hearts and homes to cats like these. And we're glad we can help make their efforts a little easier.

October 16 is Feral Cat Awareness Day!

Community cats count on community kindness, and access to spay/neuter makes that kindness go further.

Through our Community Cat Grants, Pet Friendly Services helps fund spay/neuter for community cats in Indiana, supporting the organizations working to prevent future litters.

Caring for feral or free-roaming cats in your neighborhood? Our Community Cats resource page can help you find local programs, guidance on Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), and other helpful resources.

Many local programs run entirely on volunteers and community donations. Please be patient when seeking assistance, and consider lending a hand or supporting their work.

To everyone who feeds, traps, transports and advocates for community cats: thank you for showing up for them.

Through our Pet Friendly Plate Grant, shelters and rescues receive financial assistance for spay/neuter surgeries, helping animals become adoption-ready while freeing up limited resources for other needs.

Our Community Cat Grant provides free spay/neuter certificates to organizations conducting Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR) programs. These surgeries include rabies vaccination and eartipping, helping communities humanely manage outdoor cat populations and prevent future litters.

The map below shows where these programs and supported mobile clinics have reached Indiana communities so far in 2026.

The veterinary shortage is becoming a major barrier to affordable spay/neuter. As experienced high-volume surgeons retire, training and mentoring the next generation of veterinarians is becoming increasingly important. Pet Friendly Services is working to help close that gap here in Indiana.

Last weekend, four more Indiana veterinarians participated in our third spay/neuter training of the year, hosted by Pet Friendly Services of Indiana, United Spay Alliance , and 4 Precious Paws Low Cost Spay & Neuter Clinic . During the hands-on training, they performed 27 spay/neuter surgeries (24 dogs, 3 cats) while building the skills and confidence to provide even more high-quality spay/neuter surgeries in their own communities.

Thank you to United Spay Alliance, 4 Precious Paws, our expert mentors, and the veterinarians who dedicated their day to improving care for Indiana's animals!

By investing in veterinarians, we’re helping build the long-term capacity Indiana needs to keep spay/neuter accessible.

Q3 Success Story:

Through our partnership with Public Vet, 8,117 cats have received spay/neuter surgeries through The FIX is IN! so far in 2026.

These mobile clinics bring affordable veterinary services directly to Indiana communities, particularly in areas where access to care is limited.

Pet Friendly Services helps make these surgeries more affordable by providing financial assistance to families and community cat caretakers.

By bringing services closer to the people and animals who need them, we're helping prevent unwanted litters and reduce future shelter intake.
