🐾 $5 FRIDAY — Meet Donnie! 🐾

Six pounds of pure happiness joined the Silver Snout family yesterday. 💙

Meet Donnie! This tiny 8-year-old Chihuahua came to us from the shelter, and we’re pretty sure he may be the happiest little guy we’ve ever met. Just look at that face! 😍

Unfortunately, behind that sweet smile is a mouth that needs some help. Donnie has significant dental disease and will need dental work right away to get him out of pain.

So for $5 Friday, we’re asking our community to rally around our newest little senior.

Five dollars toward getting those painful teeth taken care of.
Five dollars toward giving Donnie the fresh start he deserves.

When hundreds of people give just $5, those little donations turn into dentals, medications, bloodwork and second chances.

This week, two of our sweet seniors could use a little help from their Silver Snout family. 💙

Macy and Luke each have a few things on their Amazon wishlists that would make their days a little more comfortable. The best part? When you shop their individual lists, the items ship directly to them — Macy’s goodies will head straight to her foster home in Fishers, Indiana, and Luke’s will come directly to our Rehab Center in Venice, Florida. 📦🐶

We’ve also included our general Silver Snout Amazon Wishlist, filled with everyday supplies we use at the Rehab Center for the senior dogs who come to us for treatment, healing and lots of TLC.

Sometimes helping really is as easy as adding an extra pack of p*e pads, a bag of treats, or another much-needed item to your Amazon cart. Every package that shows up on our doorstep means one less thing we have to purchase and more of our funds can go toward veterinary care. ❤️

🐾 LUKE UPDATE! 🐾

Sweet old Luke had a vet visit today, and we got some really good news — his skin infection is completely cleared up! 🙌❤️

Now we move on to figuring out why his poor skin becomes so inflamed in the first place. Today our vet drew blood to check Luke’s thyroid, and we’ll also be starting him on a special prescription diet to see if food allergies may be contributing to his skin problems.

We did learn one not-so-great thing today. 😢 Luke has a couple of pretty infected and painful teeth, so we’ll be scheduling him for dental surgery soon. We hate knowing they’ve likely been bothering this sweet old guy, but we’re thankful we found them and can get him the relief he deserves.

After everything Luke endured before coming to Silver Snout, we want more than anything for him to finally feel comfortable, healthy and GOOD in his own skin. And we’re going to keep searching for answers and fixing what hurts until we get him there. 🥹🐾

🤧 To say sweet Lulu has a snotty nose is an understatement! 🐾💕

Our newest girl hasn’t been feeling quite like herself the past couple of days, so off to the vet she went today.

Dr. E confirmed that Lulu has an upper respiratory infection and got her started on antibiotics. Thankfully, we caught it quickly, and we’re hoping our sweet girl will be breathing easier and feeling MUCH better very soon. ❤️‍🩹

We are so incredibly thankful for our amazing vet team for always finding a way to get our seniors in quickly and for taking such wonderful care of them. It means the world to know our old babies are in such good hands. 🩺🐶❤️

Now it’s time for Lulu to rest, let those antibiotics do their job, and say goodbye to that snotty little nose! 😘

🙏 GOOD GOLLY, MISS MOLLY… WE NEED YOUR PRAYERS TODAY. 🙏🐾

Please keep our sweet Molly in your prayers today as she undergoes a scope to get a better look at something concerning that showed up on her X-rays earlier this week.

When Molly was surrendered to Silver Snout, we were told that the persistent cough she suffers from is due to a collapsing trachea. As she’s lost weight and gotten healthier, her symptoms have definitely improved—but that cough has never completely gone away.

This week, our amazing veterinary team decided to dig a little deeper. ❤️ They took new X-rays and sent them to a specialist for review. Unfortunately, there is concern that what they’re seeing may actually be a mass in Molly’s throat.

Today’s scope will hopefully give us some answers.

We are praying with everything we have that whatever they find is something that can be easily removed or treated. If this mass has been the cause of Molly’s coughing all along, addressing it could truly be life-changing for our girl. 🥹❤️

Molly has already come so far. She’s lost weight, gained mobility, gained confidence—and most importantly, she’s learned just how loved she is.

Now we need one more good thing to go her way.

Good golly, Miss Molly… you’ve got a whole village behind you. ❤️🐾

Yesterday, we pulled two more senior girls from the shelter, bringing us to THREE new dogs this week. Lulu and Gloria are now safe, but as you can see, they came to us needing care. All three of our newbies need veterinary attention, and those bills start adding up the moment we say yes.

And we need to be transparent with our friends: our $5 Fridays haven’t been very successful lately. It’s disheartening—not because we expect huge donations, but because this fundraiser was built around the idea that a whole lot of people giving just $5 can do something incredible.

We know $5 doesn’t feel like much.

That’s exactly the point.

Today, before you spend that $5 somewhere else, would you take two minutes and send it to these girls instead?

Skip one coffee.
Skip one snack.
Skip one little thing you won’t remember buying tomorrow.

💖🐾 $5 Friday - in Remembrance of Mercy 🐾💖

Some dogs come to us looking for a second chance.

Mercy came to us needing something different.

She arrived broken by neglect, her frail little body ravaged by cancer, carrying scars that told a story no dog should ever have to live. We couldn’t change her past, and we couldn’t change her diagnosis. But we could change her final chapter.

For the short time she was with us, Mercy never had to wonder if she mattered. She had a warm bed. Gentle hands. Good food. Soft blankets. Kind words. We told her over and over that she was precious, beautiful, and deeply loved.

🌈This week, Mercy crossed the Rainbow Bridge surrounded by the dignity and compassion she always deserved.

The story we’re sharing in the attached post, written by our wonderful groomer, reminds us why this work matters. Her young daughter, Betty, met Mercy and saw the heartbreaking effects of neglect. But instead of turning away, she chose love. Through the eyes of a child, Mercy taught one of life’s greatest lessons: compassion is always stronger than cruelty.

Molly wasted absolutely no time claiming our newest donation. 😂

A generous supporter donated a “queen-sized” dog bed to the Rehab Center, and apparently Molly heard the word queen and took it personally. 👑🐾

Safe to say… she approves. ❤️ Thank you for helping us keep our senior dogs comfortable and loved!
