A little lamb. A satisfying crunch. 🐑🦴

Whole Lamb Tails bring single-protein variety to your carnivore’s chewing menu! If your pet hasn’t eaten lamb before, it can be a novel option to explore.

🐾 Chew-worthy for smaller carnivores

They’re there for the hard days. 💚🐾

The days when we’re stressed, overwhelmed, lonely, or just need a reason to get outside and breathe.

Our animals give us so much. They make us laugh, give us routine and purpose, encourage us to move, and somehow always seem to know when we need them most.

But the human-animal bond goes both ways.

Our pets are deeply connected to us—and just as they can help carry our stress, they can feel it too.

This World Mental Health Day, let’s give a little of that care back to the animals who give us so much of theirs.

Take the longer walk. Let them stop and sniff. Play their favorite game. Give them something satisfying to chew. Sit together in the sunshine. And learn the little signals that tell you when they might need some extra support, too.

Because they take care of us. Let’s make sure we’re taking care of them, too. 💚

Did you know there’s more than one way to run an elimination diet? 🐾

If you’re trying to get to the bottom of a stubborn food sensitivity, there are two approaches you might consider:

Traditional Elimination Diet
🥩 Choose 1 novel protein
🥩 Feed it consistently while monitoring symptoms
🥩 Once symptoms have improved, introduce additional proteins one at a time

Rotation + Elimination Diet
🔄 Choose 3–4 novel proteins
🔄 Feed a different protein each day, repeating the rotation every 3–4 days
🔄 Keep a food + symptom journal to help spot patterns
🔄 Once symptoms have improved, begin introducing additional proteins

Both approaches have the same goal: simplify the diet, remove familiar proteins, and learn which foods work best for *your individual dog.*

The biggest difference?

One prioritizes simplicity. The other maintains more variety.

A traditional approach gives you fewer variables to track, while a rotation approach may be a good fit for dogs who get bored eating the same thing—or pet parents who prefer feeding a variety of proteins.

Whichever route you choose, remember that everything counts during an elimination diet: meals, treats, chews, toppers, table scraps, and animal-derived ingredients in supplements.

And all of your starting proteins should be novel proteins your dog hasn’t previously eaten.

The goal isn’t necessarily to find one protein your dog can eat forever. It’s to learn which foods help your dog thrive. 🐕

🐾 What if behavior starts in the bowl?

When a dog struggles with reactivity, focus, settling, or other behaviors, our first thought is usually:

Training.

And training absolutely matters.

But behavior doesn't happen separately from the body.

🧠 The brain needs amino acids, fatty acids, vitamins, minerals, and energy to function.

🥩 Food provides the raw materials the brain and nervous system have to work with.

⚡ How a dog is fueled can influence energy and focus.

🌿 Physical comfort, digestion, sleep, nutrition, exercise, enrichment, environment, and training can ALL contribute to how much capacity a dog has when faced with something stressful.

I learned this firsthand with Wellingtin.

He was extremely leash reactive to other dogs. We did private lessons. We trained. We practiced.

Then I switched him to raw.

Raw food didn't magically "fix" his reactivity—but suddenly our training started working better. His focus improved. His reactions softened. And eventually, the dog who once lost his mind at the end of the leash could sniff other dogs, relax around them, and even go for walks with them.

The training mattered, but changing his diet changed the foundation we were training on.

Raw food isn't obedience school in a bowl. Behavior is complicated, and food isn't the answer to every behavioral problem.

But if we're asking a dog's brain to learn, focus, regulate, and recover from stress, shouldn't we consider how we're fueling it, too?

🐕 Teach the skills.
