For urgent neglect or abuse, you can also contact your local police station or the Pennsylvania State Police if local police are unavailable.

Animal Cruelty & Neglect: Report suspected cases to the Indiana County Humane Society at (724) 465-7387. They can put you in touch with licensed, sworn Humane Society Police Officers who handle investigations in the area.

Stray or Running Dogs: If a dog is roaming free and needs to be handled immediately, contact the PA State Dog Warden for the Indiana County region at (412) 973-7585.

Lost Pets: If you have found a wandering pet, you should check for a microchip at a local vet, report the animal to the shelter at (724) 465-7387, and check county license numbers with the County Treasurer's Office at (724) 465-3845

Temperatures are increasing and we all know it’s going to be HOT HOT HOT outside! 🌡️☀️

Please be aware that dogs can ONLY be outside for 30 minutes when it’s above 90 degrees.

Symptoms to look for if your dog is suffering from a heat stroke:
•heavy panting
•excessive drooling
•vomiting
•red or purple gums

Please be aware that law enforcement officers, humane officers, animal control officers, emergency responders can use no more force then necessary to enter a vehicle where an animal is believed to be in imminent danger of suffering harm under the “Hot Car Bill”.

If you know it’s hot out, PLEASE LEAVE YOUR DOG AT HOME! Do not leave them in a hot car to suffer.
