Friendly reminder. With the horrific weather approaching I just want to remind you. If you live in a community or are planning on using rock salt on your property WIPE YOUR DOGS FEET WHEN THEY COME IN. Most rock salt is not pet friendly and can burn their paw pads and if they lick it off their paws can affect there stomachs.

I am begging you — prepare your animals NOW. This weather is about to be dangerous and they will NOT survive outside with only a dog house.

✅ They need:
• Indoor shelter at night (minimum)
• Straw for insulation (NOT blankets)
• A garage, utility room, mudroom, laundry room — ANYTHING to block the wind and freezing temps

❌ NO BLANKETS.
Blankets hold moisture, get wet, and freeze — which can cause animals to die from hypothermia.

The wind will make it feel even colder, and your animals depend on YOU.

🐾 They are not built for this.
🐾 They cannot ask for help.
🐾 They will suffer in silence.

A sad month for us here at Back To Basics. First I heard that the very first dog I trained when I started B2B, Teddy, passed. Then a few days later the first dog I prepared to be part of a wedding, Apollo, passed. Then today my one of the first dogs I had the honor to constantly watch when his parents went away for vacation, my boy Cooper, passed. I always say that every dogs I have any contact with is part of my pack. This month hurts.
