Kalinkas condition update.

05/12/2026

My closest companion, Kalinka, visited the veterinarian today. For the past week, she has been limping, holding her right rear leg elevated. Initially, we suspected a minor training injury or strain. Unfortunately, my greatest concern has been confirmed. Diagnostic imaging revealed hip dysplasia and knee damage. I am deeply distressed and saddened by this news.
Please pray for Kalinka.

Out with SDIT Orion.
At Home-Depot.
Still working on Orions minor reactivity towards other dogs on leash.
The equipment were using is a Mighty Paws martingale collar and a Mini Educator Ecollar.
Its not a shock collar.
The mini educator has 100 levels.
his working level is set at 4..(a human cannot feel the stimulation at this low of level.
Do not use an ecollar without professional guidance.
So we went looking for dogs.
In the garden shop i spotted a huge Akita in the check out.
Its important in this type of training to spot the dog before Orion does.
Because timing is of the essence.
We need to communicate with Orion right as he sees the other dog.usually he builds super quick before he goes reactive.
So my timing is important.
I told him to leave it in a calm voice while simultaneously tapping the e collar one time.(its literally a tap on the shoulder)
I let him looks for 3 seconds and then i kept moving while praising him with a super sweet voice tone for making the right decision.
Then we doubled back to where Orion could see the akita once more.
Both males ,they locked eyes and stared at each other.i just started praising Orion .
I must say the akita was very well hehaved and did not bark once.
A full 4 seconds of staring and the akita walked out.
I told the owners there dog was great.
And of course i praided Orion immensely. He even got a beed liver treat.
So that was a improvement.
It will take many more positive interactions like this to get to neutrality.
I make a big deal out of 3 and 4 second periods.but with a reactive dog owner .
They usually load up on sight and go over threshold. So that 3 seconds is proof that your making progress.
Every dog is different.
There is no 1 size fits all program.
We have to understand why the dog is reactive. There are often more than one reason.then work with the handler and dog together.

Dogs that play rough.

Summer is upon us soon.
Only you know when to call a time out with your dog.
A Belgian Malinois has so much drive that they will become over exerted .
Possibly get heat stroke..they wont stop as long as you keep throwing balls or frisbees.
You must advocate for your dog to rest.
Whether they like it or not.
Enjoy.get hyped up.make your training fun.your dog will feed off your energy
