ARF Animal Rescue Friends of Idyllwild CA ARF is a non-profit 501(c)3 volunteer rescue for lost, abandoned, or unwanted pets. We are open on weekends and by appointment M through F.

We also offer vaccination clinics and nail trim clinics monthly. Welcome to ARF, the little rescue with the big heart. We are located in the mountain village of Idyllwild, CA where we have been serving the community since 1994. An all-volunteer, grassroots, non-profit organization, ARF’s mission is to rescue animals that have been abandoned, lost, or whose owners are no longer able to care for them. We provide foster care until forever homes are located. All our animals are spay/neutered, receive necessary shots and other veterinary care as needed. Each year, relying only on the generosity of donors and small grants, ARF helps an increasing number of dogs and cats, turning sad stories into happy tails. ARF has always worked to educate our population about the importance of responsible pet ownership, including the need for spay/neuter and heartworm disease prevention. WE ARE OPEN ON THE WEEKENDS but we also will meet individuals M-F by appointment. Please call and leave a message.

Assisted adoption: Nala is one of many cats rescued from a hoarding situation. She is a 3-year-old Brown Tabby that came to my home in late July pregnant. On August 3rd, she gave birth to a litter of seven. Now that she is spayed, my wish is for this sweet mama cat to find a forever home that will shower with love and affection. Because she comes from a large multi-cat environment and has given birth to multiple litters, Nala would do good as an only cat so she can get all the cuddles and scratches behind the ears that she deserves. She would need an experienced adopter to help introduce her to other feline friends. It is unknown whether she is good with dogs or kids. Nala is spayed and vaccinated.

Sweet little Olive is waiting to meet you. This adorable girl is about 3 years old, house trained, and very good with other dogs (medium to small). She is only 5.5 lbs. Her cherry eye will be surgically repaired on November 2. She is spayed and current on all vaccinations. Olive is crate trained, and her foster says she is so smart and eager to learn. Please call ARF to schedule a time to meet Olive. You won't regret it!

Mufasa was one of many cats rescued from a hoarding situation. He was born in February of this year and has been in my care since July. Mufasa is not shy and loves meeting people so he can get as many scratches behind his ears as possible. Mufasa is always very gentle when playing and loves sitting on your lap and cuddling. He loves climbing high places to hide when napping. He loves playing tag and his favorite toy is his mouse. He sometimes forgets how big he his and tries to fit in small spaces. He gets along with all the other cats and is very playful. It is unknown how he would do around dogs but his gentle nature makes me feel he would do great with kids. Mufasa is neutered and up to date on his shots.

ASSISTED ADOPTION: Pepper was one of many cats rescued from a hoarding situation. She was born on July 18 and was the first of her siblings to start playing with toys. She loves playing peek-a-boo and likes to wrestle with the other cats in the household no matter what their size! She loves to explore and is a ball of energy, playing even after everyone else has fallen asleep! She loves climbing the tree houses and going through the tent and tunnel. She loves a variety of toys but also likes DIY toys like cardboard boxes, toilet paper rolls, shoelaces, and bottle caps. Pepper has an uncanny way of making even the grumpiest and oldest of the rescued cats start playing and feeling young at heart. It is unknown whether she is good with kids or dogs. She uses the litter box and is up to date on her shots.

ASSISTED ADOPTION: Scar was one of many cats rescued from a hoarding situation. He was born in February of this year and has been in my care since July. Scar is extroverted and warms up to anyone he meets. Sometimes he thinks he's a lap dog and will jump on your lap while purring to say hello or to cuddle. He also loves scratches behind his ears. He is very playful, adventurous, and affectionate. He loves to chase balls and play tag with the other cats. He gets along with all the other cats but it is unknown how he is around dogs or kids. Scar is neutered and up to date on his shots.
