Our friend Jenna stopped by with a incredibly generous donation! She gifted us the proceeds she made from selling her handmade "Pawfect Bracelets." You might remember Jenna from our Paws and Claws Spring Market last month, where she showcased and sold her beautiful creations. This marks the second year in a row that Jenna has dedicated her hard work and proceeds to the animals at the DCSPCA. Her dedication makes a profound difference in the lives of shelter animals in our community. Thank you so much, Jenna!

Enrichment isn't just a bonus, it's essential! Just like us, our pets need mental workouts to stay happy. When boredom sets in, they usually find their own entertainment, which unfortunately tends to look a lot like chewed-up sneakers or scratched furniture.

Here’s a quick, easy example from our team at the DCSPCA: we took a cardboard egg carton (pro-tip: never use plastic!), packed it with peanut butter, treats, and wet food, and shut it tight. Kie had the best time solving the puzzle and tasting victory (and peanut butter) at the end!

Introducing DIY games like this to your dog or cat’s routine is an easy, budget-friendly way to kick stress and unwanted behaviors to the curb.

Kie is available for adoption! Learn more about her & submit an adoption application on our website: https://buff.ly/SKSCekZ

Duchess is a stunning two-year-old beautiful girl with a personality as bright as her coat. This sweet girl is incredibly affectionate and absolutely adores being the center of attention. She’s wonderfully vocal and loves carrying on conversations with her people throughout the day. Duchess lives for chin rubs, full-body pets, tasty treats, and giving head butts to anyone willing to spoil her. She also has a playful side and enjoys interactive toys and games. While Duchess loves humans, she prefers not to share the spotlight with other cats, so she’s looking for a calm single-cat home where she can shine. Because she enjoys a quieter environment, Duchess would do best in a home without small children. If you’re looking for a devoted companion, Duchess is ready to steal your heart!

Mondays... amirite?

At 14 years old, Teddy has lived through enough Mondays to know the only correct response to them is to stay tucked into bed. He can be a little shy when meeting new people and will need some time to warm up to his new surroundings, but underneath that reserved nature is an incredibly sweet cat just waiting to bond with his person. Teddy would do best in a quieter home without small children where he can feel safe and comfortable at his own pace. Once he settles in, he enjoys affection, companionship, and simply being near the people he trusts. Teddy is ready to spend his golden years in a calm home filled with love and patience.
