🐾 Before bringing home a new furry family member, be sure to check your local city ordinances regarding pet ownership!

Many cities have limits on the number of dogs and cats that can legally reside in a household. These regulations are in place to help ensure the health, safety, and well-being of both pets and people in the community.

If you're considering adopting another pet, take a few minutes to review your city's ordinances or contact your local city office to confirm you're in compliance. Doing so can help avoid unexpected fines, licensing requirements, or difficult decisions down the road.

Responsible pet ownership starts with being informed. Thank you for helping keep your community—and its pets—safe and happy! ❤️🐶🐱

Introducing Our June Volunteer Spotlight of the Month!

Every month, we love highlighting the incredible people who make a difference for the animals at Heart of Minnesota Animal Shelter. Our volunteers give their time, compassion, and dedication to help ensure every animal receives the love and care they deserve.

This month, we're excited to shine the spotlight on a very special volunteer (or volunteer team) whose kindness and commitment have made a meaningful impact on our shelter animals and fellow volunteers alike.

Thank you to all of our amazing volunteers. You are the heart behind Heart of Minnesota Animal Shelter, and we couldn't do what we do without you.

How adorable is Tatum?!
This beautiful Chinese Shar Pei mix has been waiting much too long for a forever home!
Tatum was found as a stray in another community and recently transfered to HMAS for a fresh start!
She is estimated to be 1 year old.
Tatum is shy at first, but give her a few minutes and she's all kisses and tail wags.
Tatum LOVES other dogs, and will need a confident dog in her new home to help her feel safe. We are requiring a fenced yard for her as well.
Tatum would love a calm home environment with a consistent schedule and humans that will help her continue to blossom!

Looking for a new family member?! The dog shelter it FULL! Come visit and find your new best friend!
We're open 12-5pm today!

💜🐾 A Huge Thank You to the Stewart Girl Scout Troop! 🐾💜
Yesterday morning, Noodle and Dean, along with their human companions, had the wonderful opportunity to spend an hour with the Stewart Girl Scout Troop during their day camp, talking all about pets and animal shelter life.
Noodle and Dean had such a great time that they were both completely exhausted and ready for a long nap when they returned to the shelter! 🐶💤
These incredible young ladies didn't just spend time learning about animals—they also put their kindness into action. They created so many amazing gifts for our shelter pets, including:
🐱 50 homemade cat scratching boxes
🐾 Snuffle balls
🦴 Pull ropes
🐱 Catnip toys
🛏️ Crate blankets to help make cats more comfortable when they head home to their forever families
The thought, time, and love that went into these projects will make a real difference for the animals in our care.
Please join us in giving a huge THANK YOU to these amazing young ladies for their generosity, compassion, and dedication to helping shelter animals. The dogs, cats, volunteers, and staff at Heart of Minnesota Animal Shelter are incredibly grateful! ❤️🐾

Meet Fudge. 💙

This handsome senior gentleman has experienced more loss than any cat should.

Fudge first came to us a few years ago, after his beloved human passed away. Thankfully, he found a new home and a second chance at happiness. But heartbreak struck again when his adopter recently passed away, and Fudge found himself back in our care after a short stay at the city impound.

Now, at a time when he deserves comfort and stability, Fudge has been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. Unfortunately, he developed a skin reaction to the medication commonly used to manage the condition, so he now requires a prescription diet to help keep him healthy. Thankfully, he loves the food!

Despite everything he's been through, Fudge remains a sweet, gentle soul who just wants a warm lap, a sunny window, and someone to love. He has already lost two families through no fault of his own. We're hoping the third chapter of his life will be his happiest one yet.

Could you be the person to give Fudge the forever home he deserves?

Please share Fudge's story and help us find this special senior boy the loving home he's been waiting for. 🐾❤️

Remember our stray dog from last week?
Well, his human decided it was in his best interest to find a new loving family.
While it was a hard decision for them to make, they only want what is best for him.
Atlas is a middle aged fella with lots of love to give. He has a fantastic temperament and loves absolutely everyone.
He has a tiny bit of husky in the mix, giving him that urge to RUN! Atlas needs a home that can control him in doorways to prevent him from doordashing. A fenced yard is preferred, since he's used to wandering.

Atlas is neutered, current on vaccines and finally microchipped!

He is available for adoption and can't wait to meet you.
