This Saturday, August 29th, from 11am-2pm, is our Monarch Party!!!
Join us for an exciting opportunity to learn about monarch butterflies and their incredible journey! Play our monarch migration game, enjoy story times facilitated by the Hutchinson Public Library (at 11am, 12pm, and 1pm), do butterfly crafts, and help us put tags on monarchs*!
This event is free for all ages to enjoy.

*Tagging monarchs is dependent on the presence of monarchs during the event! Although we expect to see them by August 29th, we cannot guarantee it.

From Keeper Chats to Animal Trainings & Feedings, there's always something exciting happening at the Hutchinson Zoo!
🐾Daily experiences vary, but most days include chats in Hidden Americas and feedings at the River Otter exhibit, as well as opportunities to experience bison shifting at Gateway to the Prairie.
💦And, of course, no summer visit is complete without a cool trip through Splash River and Nature Playscape!

❤️‍🩹 What a difference 18 days can make! This American Kestrel (rehab intake #26-1122) was found in a pile of tires on a very hot day earlier this month. The Kestrel is the smallest raptor species in the Americas, typically only 8-12 inches tall. While they may be tiny, they are incredibly mighty and known to catch prey larger than themselves.
Although he had been orphaned and suffering from heat exhaustion upon intake, he has now made a fantastic recovery. Since he is almost full-grown, we’re one step closer to our goal of release - and keeping wildlife wild!
