We would like to introduce Dr. Merwin! She will be joining Zion Vet in May. We are excited for her to start and for everyone to meet her.
Dr. Merwin was raised on a cattle ranch in the rugged landscapes of southwestern North Dakota. Doctor Merwin grew up understanding the deep bond between humans and the animals they care for. This connection inspired her to pursue a career in veterinary medicine, she earned her DVM from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1990. For decades, she has dedicated her life to caring for humans by caring for their animals, offering expert medical care with compassion and understanding. Dr. Merwin has a particular interest in urgent care which stems from a deep-seated urge to figure out puzzles.
Dr. Merwin’s work is more than a profession—it’s a commitment to nurturing the vital relationships between people and their animal companions. When she is not in the clinic, she enjoys being out in nature, tending to plants, and creating stained glass. Her work and play ethic are grounded by the lessons learned on the ranch: kindness, perseverance, and a deep respect for all living beings.
Dr. Merwin is the mother of 4, grandmother of 3 and housemate to 2 cats. She tends to take in strays, whether of the animal or human kind.
