Think you've got a sharp eye? We're putting your fish-spotting skills to the test!

Some of these little swimmers are pretty easy to find…but others have decided they're professional hide-and-seek champions. 😂

🔎 Take a close look at the picture and count how many fish you can find.

But here's the rule: Don't give away where they're hiding! 🤫

It’s been a couple of weeks since the kids headed back to school… but apparently Pete decided to do things a little differently this year. He’s being home-schooled! 🐠🏠😂

By now, hopefully everyone has found their classrooms, figured out their schedules, and stopped forgetting at least some of their school supplies!

Here’s hoping all of our students — whether they’re in a classroom, learning at home, or swimming with their own school — are having a FIN-tastic school year! 🐟✏️📚

🐠🌙 Ever look at your aquarium in the morning and think, “Wait… did my fish change color?”

You might not be imagining it!

Certain fish can lighten, darken, or mute their colors while they sleep. These nighttime color changes can be part of their natural rest cycle and, for some species, may help them blend into their surroundings while they're less active.

Then morning comes, the lights come on, and—voilà! ✨—those beautiful colors begin making their comeback.

It’s just another fascinating example of how much is happening inside an aquarium, even while we're sleeping. 💙

So if your fish looks a little different after lights-out, don't immediately assume something is wrong. Pay attention to its overall behavior, water quality, and health—because sometimes your fish is simply wearing its nighttime pajamas. 😂🐟💤

🌈🐠 What Does the World Look Like Through a Fish’s Eyes?

Your aquarium may look colorful to you—but imagine seeing colors and patterns your eyes can’t even detect! 👀

Many species of fish can see ultraviolet (UV) light, giving them access to visual information that is completely invisible to humans. Depending on the species, these abilities can help fish recognize one another, communicate, locate food, and navigate their environment.

So when you're standing in front of a beautiful aquarium thinking, “Wow, look at those colors!”...

Your fish might be thinking, “You haven't seen anything yet.” 😂🐟🌈

The underwater world is more fascinating than we realize—and that's one of the things we love most about it at Trident Aquariums.

🐠🧩 A Happy Fish Is an Engaged Fish!

When we think about caring for our fish, we usually focus on clean water, proper nutrition, and the right tank setup. But there's another important piece of the puzzle that often gets overlooked—enrichment.

Just like other pets, many fish benefit from an environment that keeps them mentally stimulated. A well-designed aquarium with places to explore can help encourage natural behaviors and reduce boredom.

Here are a few ways to enrich your fish's environment:
🌿 Add live or silk plants for shelter and exploration.
🪨 Create caves, driftwood, or rock formations for hiding and investigating.
🔄 Rearrange decorations occasionally to introduce something new.
🍽️ Use a varied feeding routine to encourage natural foraging behaviors.
🐠 Choose compatible tank mates for social species.

Remember, enrichment doesn't always mean "toys." For many fish, the best entertainment comes from an aquarium that provides opportunities to explore, forage, hide, and interact with their environment.

A little creativity can go a long way toward helping your fish stay active, curious, and healthy.

While they may not use words, fish are constantly "talking" to each other through body language, fin movements, vibrations, and even sounds!

Some fish:
👀 Flash their colors or change their posture to send a message.
🐟 Use fin movements to communicate confidence, warn rivals, or attract a mate.
🌊 Detect vibrations in the water to stay connected with their school.
🎵 Click, grunt, hum, or drum to communicate with other fish.

The next time you're watching your aquarium, take a closer look. You might notice conversations happening that you never realized were there!

Every flick of a fin, every movement, and every interaction tells a story.

🐠👃 Did you know fish have an incredible sense of smell?

While we often admire fish for their vibrant colors and graceful swimming, one of their most impressive abilities is something we can't even see—their sense of smell!

Many fish rely on scent to:
🍽️ Find food
👥 Recognize familiar fish
⚠️ Detect predators
🏡 Navigate their environment

Some species can even detect tiny traces of food or recognize family members by scent. Their underwater world is filled with "smells" that help them survive and thrive every day.

It's just one more reminder that there's so much more going on beneath the surface than meets the eye!

Let's be honest—whether you've been in the aquarium hobby for 20 years or 20 minutes, accidents happen.

Maybe you've spilled water during a water change.
Maybe you've dropped the fish net behind the stand.
Maybe you've accidentally soaked the floor... or yourself. 😅

One of the biggest surprises in the aquarium hobby is discovering that corals are actually animals—living marine organisms that build some of the most incredible ecosystems on Earth.

Each coral is made up of tiny animals called polyps, which work together to create the beautiful reefs we all admire. These amazing creatures provide food and shelter for thousands of marine species and play a vital role in the health of our oceans.

Whether you're an experienced reef keeper or just starting your saltwater journey, learning about corals gives you a whole new appreciation for the incredible life thriving beneath the waves.
