In this video, you'll see how we practice Fear Free medicine - treats! Treats are a great motivator and easy way to distract and gain a pet’s attention when performing diagnostics and treatments. Understandably, when some pets are removed from the comfort of home and taken into a veterinary hospital environment, they can become stressed. This is when we look for a motivating and enticing distraction! Today, Grizzly needed an abdominal ultrasound performed. Grizzly loves kitty treats so we used this knowledge to our advantage. A couple of babies that belong to one of our LVTs, Cassandra, came for a visit! Timothy (cat) came in today to see Dr. Belu, and his friend, Kiara (dog) had to come to as support during his stay! Here at Animal Medical Clinic, your pet will receive a goodie bag after every dental cleaning! Dogs and cats each get their own special goodie bag to take home, along with general information and recommendations for at-home dental care.
Inside, you'll find at-home dental care instructions, an updated list of recommended dental products, a dental chew treat, a toothbrush, a finger toothbrush, and pet-safe toothpaste.

Did you know that dogs and cats cannot use most human toothpaste? That's right! Most human toothpastes include xylitol and fluoride, which are not safe for pets. Luckily, there are pet-safe options available. The Veterinary Oral Health Council (VOHC) provides a list of approved pet-safe dental products, including chews, treats, water additives, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and diets. Many of these options are available on our online pharmacy and can be shipped directly to your door. Just let us know you're interested, and we'll send a link right to your phone or email!
