Winchester Road Animal Hospital “To offer veterinary care in an enjoyable, compassionate, progressive, and informed environment This is our mission statement.

It is something we strive to achieve in the care of our patients, clients and ourselves. What it means is simply this: We want you and your pet to always feel welcome and to feel that you are always getting the best care that is available. And since your pet is part of your family, we want you to feel that you are a partner in your pets health care and that your input is welcomed. In addition to providing traditional veterinary care, such as preventive care, dental care, senior care and surgical procedures, we enjoy offering more progressive medicine including surgical laser procedures. We have also added therapeutic laser with other traditional methods for pain control and a variety of inflammatory conditions. Also, it is important for us to help your pet be an enjoyable, pleasant, and behaved member of your family. We hope you will come see us and that you and your pet will be pleased with your experience! In the meantime feel free to share any comments, stories and pictures of your fur babies.

Halloween Safety Tip #3: Secure Those Decorations! 🕷️

Halloween decorations are fun, but some can be tempting and dangerous for our curious pets! 🐶🐱 Keep pumpkins, candles, and electrical cords out of reach to help prevent burns, chewing, and electrical shocks.

Keep fake cobwebs and glow sticks away from pets, as swallowing them can lead to serious digestive problems. A little prevention can help keep your four-legged family members safe while you enjoy the spooky season! 🧡🎃

Stay spooky, stay safe! 👻

Halloween Safety Tip #2: Keep Costumes Comfy! 👻

We love seeing our pets dressed up for Halloween, but their safety and comfort always come first! 🧡 Choose costumes that fit properly and allow your pet to move freely.

🚫 What to avoid? Small buttons, dangling cords, and decorations that could be chewed or swallowed. Skip masks that may block your pet’s vision or make breathing difficult. Remember, if your pet seems stressed or uncomfortable, it’s okay to skip the costume altogether. Their comfort matters more than the perfect Halloween photo! 📸🧡

🐾 If your pet isn’t a fan of dressing up, a festive bandana is a great alternative. Stop by Wi******er Road Animal Hospital and pick up a festive bandana on us! We'd love to see you!

Halloween Safety Tip #1: Keep the Candy Stashed Away! 🍭

We know Halloween candy is a treat for us, but it can be dangerous for our furry friends! Chocolate can be toxic to pets, especially dark chocolate. Sugar-free candy and gum may contain xylitol, which can be life-threatening (Also often times listed as birch sugar).

Even sugary treats can cause stomach upset or pancreatitis. Keep candy bowls, trick-or-treat bags, and wrappers out of your pet’s reach! If your pet gets into Halloween candy, don’t wait for symptoms to appear. Contact your veterinarian or an animal poison control center for guidance.

Stay tuned tomorrow for another Halloween pet safety tip! 👻🧡

Did you know all mammals are capable of being infected with and transmitting rabies? Even cute cuddly ones like kittens! In recent years, cats have become the most common domestic animal infected with rabies because many cat owners do not vaccinate their cats, and cats can be exposed to rabid wildlife, either outdoors or when bats get into the house.

Here are 6️⃣ ways you can prevent this disease and protect yourself and your animals. Visit avma.org/Rabies to learn more.
