🏁 Racing day at the IWC NY Specialty!

This was only Eevee’s second time racing. The first time, she mostly hung at the back of the pack and followed the other dogs. She’d also had a not so great experience running with other dogs recently, so I wasn’t sure how much confidence she’d have getting out there and racing alongside them.

I was SO proud of how she did. This time she was jockeying for position, weaving in and out of the other dogs, and really showing off that sighthound drive and tenacity as she chased the lure. She genuinely LOVED it. Watching her figure it out and get more confident with each run was so much fun.

She ran three 200-yard races with three other dogs placing 3rd, 2nd, and 3rd. That put her 20th overall in racing, which I’m absolutely thrilled with!

At the end of the day, I found out Eevee finished 6th overall in versatility for the entire show! Versatility combines rally, agility, racing, and conformation so it was so neat to see how her scores came together across all four events against some super competitive dogs.

I’m also so grateful my best friend Mckala came along for this whirlwind trip so I didn’t have to make the drive alone. She was incredibly generous with her time and released Eevee for every race, getting her fired up and telling her to “get that squirrel!” And Eevee understood the assignment! 😂💨

Pippin and the other Adventure pups even got to join in on the fun with a couple of puppy runs, too! They were SO excited, and it was adorable watching those little instincts kick in as they pounced after the lure. I think we may have some future racers on our hands. 🥹

🐾 Conformation day at the IWC NY Specialty!

The puppies were barely just old enough to step into the ring for the very first time and I was SO proud of them. Pippin and Riven took 1st and 2nd in their class and Herman took 1st in his. They were the youngest puppies competing in the show and acted like little champs. 🥹

🏆 Pippin and Herman then went on to compete for Best Puppy in show with some beautiful older puppies.

To my surprise!
🥇Pippin won Best Puppy &
🥈Herman won Best of Opposite

🥈Eevee also placed 2nd in a very competitive Open B*tch class! Super proud of her considering we were pretty rusty going back into the ring.😅

The puppies were also evaluated by several IWC approved judges, earning high marks and points toward their Junior Championships.

It was so nice to get some recognition in the ring, especially with this being my first litter. ❤️Conformation is a fun part of what we do, but I know that at the end of the day it’s just one judge’s opinion on one day. I will forever cherish watching these pups grow into confident, resilient, and well-rounded little dogs. Feeling so grateful for these sweet, wonderful dogs (and people) in my life. 🥹💖

Eevee and I competed in Level 1 Rally and Level 1 Agility over the weekend at the International Windsprite Club Specialty.

She absolutely blew me away and placed:
🥇 1st out of 18 dogs in Rally
🥇 1st in our Agility class

I honestly had no idea how she would feel getting back out there after spending half the year pregnant, raising puppies, and only weaning them a few weeks ago. (Much less whether she’d even lay down in wet grass 😂)

But she was SO excited to work with me, play together, and just do the thing again. It was really special getting to reconnect with my girl and have fun together, especially with all the pressure and anxious feelings I was carrying into the ring. I just adore this sweet girl who is always up for doing anything with me. 🥹🩷

And all the puppies got to try FEO Intro Rally for the first time! Herman, Pippin, and Riven all pranced around super engaged with their people and completely rocked it. So proud of my Shire family! 🥹🌿

🛣️We just got back from a whirlwind 30-hour round trip to the International Windsprite Club NY Specialty, and what a weekend it was!

🌿We had a little Shire family reunion! Three of the Adventure Litter puppies got to reunite and even meet their daddy Hunter for the first time. We missed our Lexi girl, but it was so special seeing Herman, Riven, and Pippin back together again. 🥰

I was SO impressed with these puppies. They handled the chaos of traveling and all three show event days like absolute champs. It was really special getting to watch them out in the world, see how they’re growing up, and spend time with so many dear friends and our wonderful Windsprite community.

I’m excited to share some of their accomplishments in the ring over the next few days! ❤️

Pippin update! 🌿💚

It is so special to be able to carry on the next generation with this puppy, and how seamlessly she has woven her way into life here at The Shire.

I see so much of her mom in her, the same sweetness and gentle nature, but she’s brought along her own little spark too. She has an extra zest, a growing independence, and a curiosity about the world that has been so much fun to watch blossom.

She absolutely adores the boys and every new kiddo she meets and she’s been doing wonderfully on her solo adventures out into the world. She seems quite content with her life as the only puppy and is happily soaking up every bit of attention and new experience.

Eevee is absolutely thrilled that her baby stayed and now has a built-in best friend. It’s been so sweet watching the two of them hike, play, and explore together every day.

I’m so grateful for this little girl and I can’t wait to see what adventures are waiting for us. 🌿✨

Riven pupdate!

“Riven has been thriving in her new home. She loves to play with her big sister Selkie, cuddle with her people, and has taken every adventure she’s gone on it stride. She’s gone to an outdoor concert, met various people and dogs, visited the vet, and gone on her first hike! Everywhere she goes her tail never stops wagging and her love of life is infectious.”

An update from Lexi’s family 💕

“Lexi has just been a joy from the start. She is so smart and picks up on things incredibly quick. She is such a cuddler in the morning when she comes out of her crate, and those first snuggles have become one of the best parts of our day. She loves to play learn and then chill. We have been working on heeling, sitting on a particular spot and also ringing the bell to go outside. She’s got the Bell down in just one week! She loves sleeping at our feet and watches us like a hawk, never wanting to miss a thing. She is such a special little girl and we are cherishing every moment with her.”
