🏆🐾 WE DID IT!!! SUCH A GOOD DOG IS A 2026 NEXTDOOR FAVE AWARD WINNER! 🐾🏆

Y’all!!! We are SO excited to share that SUCH A GOOD DOG was voted a 2026 Nextdoor Neighborhood Fave! 💙💚

And the best part? This award comes from YOU! Our neighbors, clients, friends, and the wonderful families who have trusted us with their dogs.

🎓🐾 TANK IS OFFICIALLY A GRADUATE! 🐾🎓

Someone tell Tank that looking THIS handsome in a graduation cap should be illegal! 😍💙

This sweet boy just graduated from our Elementary class, and guess what?! He’s already signed up for MIDDLE SCHOOL! 🙌

We LOVE seeing our students continue their training journey! Graduation isn’t the finish line. It’s another stepping stone toward building great manners, confidence, and an even stronger bond with their humans. ❤️

Way to go, Tank! We’re so proud of you and can’t wait to see what you accomplish next!

Now, if only all middle schoolers were this excited about going back to school! 😂🐶

🐾 Is YOUR dog ready to be our next graduate?

🐾 Is your dog taking YOU for a walk? 😂

Our next Loose Leash Legends class starts in just ONE WEEK!

This 4-week class is all about helping you and your dog build better leash skills so walks can be more enjoyable for BOTH ends of the leash!

And we’re not just practicing inside a training facility…

🐕 2 classes at the SUCH A GOOD DOG facility
🌎 2 FIELD TRIPS to take those skills out into the real world!

We’ll work on things like:
🐾 Walking beside you with a loose leash
🐾 Staying connected with you around distractions
🐾 Structured walking vs. getting released to sniff and explore
🐾 Handling real-world distractions without being dragged down the sidewalk 😅
🐾 Building better communication between you and your dog

Because loose leash walking isn’t about expecting your dog to march in a perfect heel for the entire walk … it’s about teaching them how to walk WITH you, while still getting opportunities to sniff, explore, and be a dog. ❤️

📍 SUCH A GOOD DOG
📅 Starts Tuesday, October 13 at 6:45 PM

Spots are limited, so grab yours and come walk with us! 🐶🐾

😬 LOOK AT THOSE TEETH! Is Sherman being aggressive?

If you saw this photo with absolutely no context, what would you think?

Sherman looks like he’s giving a pretty serious warning here, doesn’t he? But this is a perfect example of why we cannot read a dog based on one snapshot… or one body part.

What Sherman is displaying is commonly called a submissive or appeasement grin.

And yes…it can look VERY convincing. 😂

Teeth do not automatically = aggression.

A submissive grin can be part of a dog’s social/appeasement behavior. You may see the lips pulled back along with softer eyes, ears back, wiggling, lowered posture, approaching, lip licking, or other appeasement signals.

Compare that to exposed teeth accompanied by freezing, a stiff body, hard staring, growling, guarding space, or attempts to create distance.

Same teeth. Very different conversation.

🐾 A wagging tail doesn’t automatically mean friendly.
🐾 Ears back don’t automatically mean scared.
🐾 And showing teeth doesn’t automatically mean aggressive.

We have to read the WHOLE dog.

🎥 Check the comments to see Sherman in action! His “smile” makes a whole lot more sense when you see the rest of the interaction. 😂🧡

🐾 Beau’s Law takes effect TODAY, October 1st, here in Alabama!

This new law puts clearer standards in place for the care of dogs kept outdoors, including access to food, clean water, appropriate shelter, and safer requirements for tethering and confinement. It also includes specific exceptions for things like temporary tethering, leash walking, and certain hunting and working-dog activities.

At SUCH A GOOD DOG, we believe responsible dog ownership goes far beyond training. Our dogs depend on us for their safety, care, enrichment, and overall well-being… and we’re glad to see more awareness being brought to what responsible outdoor care should look like. ❤️🐶

Please take a minute to read through the information below and share it. The more dog owners who know what the law requires, the better.

And if you see a dog whose basic needs aren’t being met, contact the appropriate animal control or law-enforcement agency in that area.

🐾 Know the law. Know the facts. Help keep Alabama dogs safe.

🚨 HANDSOME BOY ALERT 🚨

Everybody meet BRYCE! 🐾💙

Bryce is currently with Notorious D.O.G Dog Rescue and is looking for one very important thing… his forever home. 🏡

In the meantime, this sweet boy is spending his time becoming an educated gentleman in our Elementary class at Such A Good Dog! 🎓🐶

And by golly… IS HE A HANDSOME, SWEET BOY. 😍

We’ve absolutely loved having Bryce in class. He’s not only ridiculously photogenic (seriously, LOOK AT THAT FACE 😂), but he’s getting the opportunity to work on his basic manners and skills while he waits for his person to find him.

One of our favorite things is seeing rescue dogs get opportunities like this… because Bryce isn’t just looking for a home. He’s getting ready to be somebody’s really, really good dog. ❤️

If you’ve been thinking about adding a new best friend to your family, Bryce would sure love to be considered. And if you aren’t looking to adopt, please SHARE! His forever family might just be on your friends list. 🐾

Someone go adopt this handsome boy before we all get way too attached. 😂❤️

If your daily walk feels more like your dog is taking you for a walk… Loose Leash Legends is for you! 😂

Our next class starts:

📅 Tuesday, October 13th
⏰ 6:45 PM
🐕 4-week class
💲 $130

Over four weeks, we’ll work on building better leash skills and teaching your dog that walking with you is way more rewarding than dragging you down the sidewalk. 🙌

We’ll focus on things like:
🐾 Walking with a loose leash
🐾 Staying connected with you around distractions
🐾 Building better focus and engagement
🐾 Learning when it’s time to walk nicely and when it’s time to sniff and explore
🐾 Making walks more enjoyable for BOTH ends of the leash!

No need for a perfect heel. Our goal is a dog who can walk beside you with a nice, slack leash while still getting plenty of opportunities to be a dog. ❤️

Loose Leash Legends starts Tuesday, October 13th at 6:45 PM!

Spots are limited, so grab yours and let’s make those walks a whole lot more enjoyable! 🐕‍🦺✨

🎓 Elementary School: GRADUATED! 🎓

Being SUCH A GOOD DOG is exhausting work. 😂💤

Oliver recently graduated from our Elementary School class and apparently decided the graduation cap was the perfect excuse for a well-earned nap. 🥹🐾

Elementary School is where we start building those everyday skills that help turn good dogs into SUCH A GOOD DOGS … things like sit, down, stay, wait, recall, loose-leash walking, leave it, polite greetings, impulse control and more!

But graduation doesn’t mean the learning stops… it just means you’re ready for the next grade. 😉📚🐶

Congratulations, graduate! We’re so proud of you! 🎓💙

🐾 Can you guess how old Stella is?!

Those LONG legs might fool you! 😂 Drop your guess in the comments! 👇

Stella just wrapped up her second in-home training session with Such A Good Dog, and she’s been such a fun girl to work with!

In-home sessions are perfect for families who want one-on-one help where everyday life actually happens … at home. We can work on puppy manners, jumping, leash skills, settling, boundaries, door manners, and the specific challenges you’re experiencing with your dog.

And because training usually isn’t a “one and done” thing, we offer bundle option’s for families who want a little more time to work with us:

🏠 Single in-home session: $199
🐾 Two-session bundle: $368 — save $30 when booked together! (Want more than 2? We have deals for that too!)

In-home sessions are 75–90 minutes and tailored specifically to you, your dog, and your goals.

Stella has now completed both sessions in her bundle, and we can’t wait to see her continue to grow into those BIG paws. 🥰

Think in-home training might be a good fit for your dog? Send us a message and we’ll help you decide where to start!
