With the increase of the Lone Star tick in our region we have been getting cases near us that Bobcat Fever is on the increase as well.

Protect Your Cat from Bobcat Fever!

Bobcat Fever (Cytauxzoonosis) is a deadly tick-borne disease spread primarily by the Lone Star tick. It can affect both outdoor and indoor cats — especially in wooded areas. Once symptoms appear, cats can become critically ill within days.

Signs to watch for:
• Lethargy
• Loss of appetite
• High fever
• Pale gums
• Difficulty breathing
• Sudden weakness

Prevention is the BEST protection •Keep cats on year-round flea & tick prevention
• Check pets daily for ticks
•Limit outdoor exposure, especially in wooded areas
•Even indoor cats can be at risk if ticks are brought inside

You may have seen recent news regarding a voluntary rabies vaccine lot recall issued by Boehringer Ingelheim.
We want to reassure our Ayers Animal Hospital family that we did NOT receive or administer the affected vaccine lot.
✅ Your pets are safe.
✅ Our vaccine inventory has been reviewed.
✅ No patients at Ayers Animal Hospital were impacted.
As always, your pet’s health and safety are our top priorities. We carefully monitor all vaccine manufacturers and lot numbers to ensure the highest standards of care.

Howdy, partners! We're starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel! We *will* be open tomorrow, January 27th 2026, starting at 9:00am. If you have a previously scheduled appointment with us, please use caution when traveling and park at the top of the parking lot (the lower part can be slippery!).

Hey there, friends and followers! We hope you're all staying safe and warm with your fur kids and families this weekend! Due to the inclement weather and dangerous road conditions, we've decided to close the office tomorrow (Monday, January 26th, 2026) to prioritize the safety of our staff and all of you! Our plan is to reopen Tuesday morning, but please continue to watch this space and your inbox for further updates!

We'll be doing our best to keep our regularly scheduled hours, but in the case of dangerous conditions, we may be operating at a limited capacity or be forced to decrease our hours to protect our team.
