What a wonderful event. Each year Bartini Bar open their door for GGers and a live band to help us findraise to help the hounds we help. Thank you Samantha Pabisch for organizing this event and getting so many awesome raffle prizes. Thanks to all who attended, bought tickets, brought food and had fun. Thanks to Art Hickey and your band for once again doing an outstanding job!! We raised over $4600 and that will go to great use helping the dogs we help.

GG welcomed 5 awesome galgos to NY last night all the way from Spain. The coordination of one flight is a huge task with lots of moving parts and cooperation from our friends across the pond. The process started in July when we traveled to Spain (at our own expense) to evaluate hounds for GG. Then the paperwork, health certificates, permits, Customs Broker, organizing the flights and attaching the dogs (that was especially trying this flight and LOTS OF $$$$$ is all worth it to get to see these dogs on US soil with their families and foster families.

Thank you Nancy Nelson for being a fantastic Flight Patron, you really rock. In Madrid, thanks to Lauren for helping Nancy out at the airport and taking so many awesome pictures!

And to the groups in Spain, thank you for trusting GG to find the best adoptive homes possible.

Thank you Galgos en Familia for sending over 3 gorgeous hounds. They look fantastic, you do such a great job!

Thank you to Siempre Contigo for the "Kids". Hamish and Mateo are special galgos, very lucky because you rescued them. Mateo looks so much better now that he has spent some time at your shelter.

The GG Army shows up in force each time and without all of you, there is no way I could do the airport end of things by myself. The cheers at the end is the gold standard for me; thanks Matt.

Wishing everyone a great day, but especially the newest US citizens.

Some safety reminders:

If you are in the Long Island, NYC, NJ, CT area (and other areas too), we are in for a substantial storm with significant winds. Keep those tracking collars charged, check fences before letting your dogs out. Wind spooks some dogs so keep your dog on a leash/harness for safety when going outside. Your job this weekend is to keep your dog(s) and yourself safe.

I hope everyone stays safe.

A powerful nor'easter will bring a soggy, windy weekend to the Tri-State area, with the greatest impacts expected along the coast, where flooding concerns continue to grow.

ADOPT ME!!!
Meet my newest foster, Hlo'Sjrueholiday, aka Drue, DOB June 18, 2024, he’s a baby. However, he does Not act like one, he’s more of a settled down mature type of guy. He is cat SAFE!
Drue arrived from WV on September 13, however, he never raced. He is absolutely the sweetest guy you will ever meet. He is quite the talker and will let you know when he has to go out by talking at the back door, or, if the back door is not latched securely, he takes it upon himself to let himself out! . Drue has the cutest fold over ears and gives feathery gentle kisses.
He gets along swimmingly with all of my sighthounds and thus far is an easy dog. Drue sleeps through the night in an xpen next to my bed and will need this in his adoptive home. He does NOT like closed doors away from his people. Drue is President of the clean plate club and is currently interviewing as a sous chef. He is working on keeping his front paws off of the counter tops .
Drue will need to be part of a pack, Not an only dog, in a home with a retiree or person who works from home. Also, he much prefers short car rides, long car rides cause him undue stress.
Drue is fostered on Long Island.
Please contact Lisa Sallie Or Jesse for more information on adopting this lovely boy. Please send a PM as comments under pics can be missed

Looking for a forever home.

Introducing Hammish, a male galgo. Dob: Aug 1, 2025. Super friendly dog, LOVES kids, adults, other dogs!! He is young and silly. He is just a baby. Hammish will arrive here in NY on Oct 16th and it would be awesome if he had a family waiting to offer him that perfect home.

Hammish is so much fun and silly. When he was a puppy, he injured his back leg somehow. Although it is totally healed, he will limp every now and again but has complete mobility.

Lets find Hammish a forever home!

Plum was rescued in Spain and brought to the US by GG. She was adopted by her mom here on Long Island before she even left Spain. Sadly, she became ill rather quickly and Plum could use all of our help. If you can support this GFM, that would be great. If you can’t, please consider sharing. In fact, share regardless. Thank you.

It breaks my heart to have to share this news. Things are not looking good. I hate to have to ask for help but you all know how much the hospital is overnight and they are saying it could be for two weeks, if she makes it that long. They do not even know if she will make it. She is critical. Praying tomorrow's blood work shows some improvement or is not any worse! The leish is the least of my worries right now. Her kidneys!! I was told she is in "grave" condition.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

I adopted Plum, a 3-year-old Spanish Mastin, from Spain earlier this year. She had never experienced life in a home before, and my daughter Lauren fostered her in Madrid until she could join us here in the U.S. Unfortunately, Plum tested positive for Leishmania, a disease common in parts of Europe but not here. This disease has now become active, attacking her kidneys and putting her in renal failure.

Plum is currently hospitalized and receiving 24/7 care, but she needs to be transferred to a specialized facility where she can get the intensive treatment she requires. The costs are overwhelming, and I am struggling financially after losing my job. I have done everything I can to help her, but she is in critical condition, and I cannot bear the thought of losing her.

Any funds donated will go directly to her care, including medications, testing, and specialized food. Plum deserves a chance at life, and I hope you can help us during this difficult time. Thank you for your kindness and support.

Best,

Sheryl and my Plum

This was Plum at the vet. She was trying to hide under the counter. How can a hundred pound dog get under there? I don't know. Poor baby was so scared but so cute.

July 4th is right around the corner and in my neighborhood they are already practicing. Here are some tips to keeping your hound(s) safe.

Make sure your FiCollar (or GPS collars) are fully charged. Walk your hound out on leash as any one of our hounds can fly over a fence if panicked.
