🐴 BIG NEWS AT HILL CREEK STABLES! 🐴

As Hill Creek Stables continues to grow, Morgan is shifting her focus toward training, consignments, sales, and showing. She will still have limited availability for focused western pleasure lessons, but those wanting to schedule with Morgan will need to reach out to her directly.

With Morgan focusing more of her time on these areas, we’re excited to announce that Megan is stepping into a more full-time role with the lesson program! 🎉

Megan has been teaching at Hill Creek Stables for over 2 years and is looking forward to expanding our lesson program and welcoming new riders to the barn!

🐎 LESSON AVAILABILITY

Monday: 7 AM–2 PM
Tuesday: closed
Wednesday: 3:30-7 PM
Thursday: 7 AM-10AM & 3:30–7 PM
Friday: 7 AM-1 PM
Saturday: 7 AM–2 PM
Sunday: Closed

There may be some flexibility with the hours listed above!

30-minute lesson — $45
1-hour lesson — $60

Haul-in lessons:
30-minute lesson — $50
1-hour lesson — $65

Lessons are available in English and Western disciplines, and we welcome riders of all ages and experience levels!

🐎 TRAINING RIDES

Megan will also be offering limited training for horses needing additional schooling, groundwork, miles, or consistency.

Hill Creek boarders: $30 per ride
Haul-in training rides: $35 per ride

Training rides can be a great way to supplement your regular lessons and help keep your horse progressing between rides with their owner.

🏇🏼 MEET MEGAN

Megan has been around horses for 20 years and comes from an eventing background, with a strong foundation particularly in dressage and horsemanship. She especially enjoys working with beginners and amateur riders of all ages and helping students develop confidence, communication, and a solid foundation through an encouraging attitude!

In addition to teaching and training, Megan will be handling lesson scheduling and maintaining lesson policies, helping keep the program organized as we continue to grow.

We also offer lessons focused on grooming, horse handling, groundwork, and learning how to safely interact with horses before getting in the saddle.

Grooming/handling lessons:

15 minutes- $15

30 minutes- $30

🐴💰 LET’S TALK ABOUT HORSE PRICES… BECAUSE APPARENTLY WE NEED TO. 😂

We’ve discovered something absolutely fascinating in the horse business…

Post a $15,000 horse and suddenly everybody’s phone battery is in danger. 📲🔥

“Is he still available?”
“Can you send 47 videos?”
“Does he neck rein?”
“Can my 8-year-old ride him?”
“Can he sort cows, drag a log, trail ride alone, babysit Grandma, and probably do my taxes?”

THOUSANDS OF INQUIRIES.

Post a $5,000 horse…

Apparently everyone’s Wi-Fi goes out. 😂

And then we get the messages from people with a $4,000–$6,000 budget who want the $15,000 horse.

They don't want the cheaper horse because:

“He doesn’t neck rein.”

“He’s a little pokey.”

“He has some arthritis.”

“He has an old scar.”

“He isn’t fancy enough.”

“He needs more training.”

“He’s older.”

“He has a quirk.”

MY FRIEND… YOU HAVE A $5,000 BUDGET. NOT A $15,000 BUDGET THAT YOU’RE TRYING TO MANIFEST. 😂

Here’s the uncomfortable truth:

GOOD HORSES AREN’T CHEAP.

CHEAP HORSES AREN’T NECESSARILY BAD.

BUT CHEAP HORSES ARE RARELY PERFECT.

And there is a HUGE difference between a cheap horse and a bad horse.

A $5,000 horse might be a perfectly good horse that simply isn't finished like a $15,000 horse.

Maybe he doesn't neck rein.

Maybe he's more “Whoa” than “Go.”

Maybe she's 18 instead of 8.

Maybe she has some arthritis.

Maybe he has an old scar.

Maybe she needs another 30 rides.

Maybe he isn't going to win the World Championship, but he'll pack your kids around the trail all day and stand tied to the trailer without turning into a rodeo. 😂

THAT'S CALLED REALITY.

The horse doesn't care what you wish your budget was.

The seller doesn't control the laws of economics.

And Facebook Marketplace is not the Make-A-Wish Foundation for horses. 😂

If you have $5,000 to spend, that's GREAT.

There are good horses in that price range.

But you need to decide what you're willing to compromise on.

Want a finished, fancy, young, sound, experienced, neck-reining, bombproof, push-button horse with no blemishes, no arthritis, no quirks and 15 years of experience?

You're probably going to need to move the decimal point. 💰😂

Want to stay under $5,000?

Then maybe your expectations need to come down from “future world champion” to “honest horse that will get the job done.”

And honestly?

Some of the best horses we've ever been around weren't the prettiest, fanciest, most expensive horses.

They were the ones that were HONEST.

So know your budget.

Know what you're actually looking for.

Know what you're willing to overlook.

And quit expecting a $5,000 horse to come with a $20,000 résumé. 😂

Because if you want the $20,000 horse…

Bring $20,000. 🤷‍♂️🐴

The horse market isn't broken.

Your expectations and your wallet just need to have a meeting. 😂
