Fall is here, but that doesn't necessarily mean you can put parasite prevention away! 🍂🐾

Fleas, ticks, and heartworm disease can continue to pose a risk during cooler months. Fleas can survive indoors, ticks can remain active during periods of cooler weather, and heartworm prevention is an important part of protecting your pet from a potentially serious disease.

Parasite risks can vary based on your pet's lifestyle and where you live, so talk with your veterinary team about the prevention plan that's right for your dog or cat.

A little prevention now can help keep your pet healthier year-round.

🎉🐱 Happy Birthday, Dr. Southwell! 🎂💕

To our resident cat whisperer, lover of a good abscess, and expert at sticking needles in all the right places (acupuncture, of course! 😂). We hope your birthday is filled with lots of laughs, kitty cuddles, and absolutely no abscesses... unless they're really good ones!

We hope you have a wonderful birthday! 🐾💕

💙🐾 STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK: MEET THE ADMIN TEAM OF HAMBRIGHT! 🐾💙

Ever wonder who helps keep all the moving pieces of Hambright Animal Hospital together? Meet our Admin Team! 🐾

While you may recognize some of these familiar faces around the hospital, much of their day is spent making sure our team has what they need to provide the best possible care for your pets!

From managing schedules and supporting our staff to coordinating hospital operations, training new team members, and finding solutions to the unexpected challenges that pop up throughout the day, our Admin Team wears quite a few hats!

They're the planners, problem solvers, organizers, and occasional firefighters (not literally, thankfully! 😅) who help keep our busy hospital moving in the right direction.

At Hambright, we're proud to be a locally owned veterinary hospital, and our Admin Team plays an important role in maintaining the personal, family-like atmosphere that makes our hospital special.

So, the next time you see one of these faces around Hambright, you'll know a little more about what they do! 💙🐾

💙🐾 STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK: MEET THE DOCTORS OF HAMBRIGHT! 🐾💙

If your pet has ever needed a wellness exam, a little extra TLC, surgery, or help figuring out why they suddenly decided to stop eating (or eat something they definitely shouldn't have 😅), chances are one of our amazing veterinarians was there to help!

Our DVMs wear a lot of hats, and a stethoscope is just one of them! 🩺🐾

From diagnosing tricky medical cases and performing surgeries to interpreting lab results, educating pet parents, and making important decisions for their patients, these doctors do it all!

They celebrate the happy puppy and kitten visits, work through the challenging cases, and help families navigate some of the hardest moments of loving and caring for their pets. Through it all, they bring compassion, knowledge, patience, and a whole lot of heart to every patient they care for. ❤️

And let's not forget, they do all of this while answering a million questions from their team, juggling a busy appointment schedule, and occasionally trying to figure out what that mysterious thing was that a dog ate! 😂

To our incredible DVMs, THANK YOU! 💙 For sharing your knowledge, supporting your team, caring for our patients like family, and putting so much of yourselves into the work you do. Hambright wouldn't be the hospital it is without each of you!

Help us show our wonderful doctors some love in the comments! 🐶🐱💙

🐾💙 STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK: VETERINARY ASSISTANTS & RVTs 💙🐾

Today we're celebrating the hardworking hands and caring hearts of our Veterinary Assistants and Registered Veterinary Technicians!

These incredible team members do a little bit of everything (and sometimes all at once!). From comforting nervous patients and collecting lab samples to monitoring anesthesia, assisting in surgery, providing nursing care, and educating pet parents, they are always on the move!

They're the familiar faces greeting your pets, the gentle hands offering comfort, and the dedicated professionals making sure every patient receives the care and attention they deserve. ❤️

Their days aren't always easy, their scrubs rarely stay clean, and there's definitely no shortage of pet hair, but they show up every day ready to make a difference!

To our amazing Veterinary Assistants and RVTs, THANK YOU! Your compassion, knowledge, teamwork, and dedication are such an important part of what makes Hambright special. We couldn't do what we do without you! 🐶🐱💙

💙🐾 STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK: MEET THE VOICES & FACES OF HAMBRIGHT! 🐾💙

If you’ve called Hambright, walked through our doors, needed an appointment, picked up a prescription, or asked, “Can you squeeze Fluffy in today?” chances are one of our amazing CSRs was there to help!

They juggle multiple phone lines, manage our doctors’ schedules, check patients in, coordinate prescription requests, answer countless questions, and communicate with our medical team, all while keeping track of who needs to be where and when!

As the first voices and faces of Hambright, they welcome our clients with professionalism, patience, kindness, and a smile (even when every phone seems to be ringing at once! 😅).

There is so much more happening at our front desk than meets the eye, and our hospital simply couldn't run without this incredible team.

To our amazing CSRs, THANK YOU! 💙 For keeping the chaos organized, our clients cared for, and Hambright running smoothly every day. We appreciate all that you do!

Help us show these wonderful ladies some love in the comments! 🐾💙

Here's your friendly reminder - October is Adopt a Dog Month! 🐶 Adopting a dog from a shelter not only provides a loving home for a pet in need, but it also supports efforts to reduce pet homelessness. If you’re considering adding a new member to your family, adoption gives deserving animals a second chance.

Fall brings cooler temperatures, colorful leaves, and plenty of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors with your pet, but there can also be some hidden hazards along the way. 🍁🐕

Mushrooms, acorns, leaves and yard debris, seasonal decorations, lawn products, and certain fall foods can all pose risks to curious pets.

One of the easiest ways to keep your pet safe is to pay attention to what they're sniffing, chewing, and eating while they're outside. If you think your pet may have eaten something potentially harmful, contact your veterinary team or a pet poison resource promptly for guidance.

Save this post as a reminder while enjoying the fall season with your pet!

Yes, older dogs can safely undergo anesthesia — with the right precautions in place. Pre-anesthetic bloodwork, tailored medications, and careful monitoring help reduce risk. Age alone isn’t a reason to skip a procedure your dog may need.
