You guys!!! WHAT. A. DAY. 🥰

We had such a great time seeing friends, catching up with past adopters, and spending the day with so many fun, generous, kind humans. AND we even made a little money for the shelter at our sale! It was definitely a hot one, but totally worth it.

But you guys… THAT ISN’T EVEN THE BEST PART.

Are you ready for the BEST news of the day?! Because we seriously cannot stop smiling.

OLIVER AND HEMI CUDA BOTH WENT HOME!!! 🎉

Yep. BOTH OF THEM.

These two boys have both been a little harder to place, which makes seeing them head off to their new homes feel extra special. Forget winning the lottery. THIS is our jackpot.

Our hearts are ridiculously full tonight. Here are a couple happy pics of our boys to celebrate their big day.

Happy tails, Oliver & Hemi Cuda! Go live your best lives, boys! ❤️

💔 Rocky & Tank are still waiting. And these two are breaking our hearts a little more every day.

These poor boys are truly some of the best dogs we have, yet day after day, they continue to be passed by.

We understand. Great Danes are a lot of dog. They’re big boys. They take up a lot of room, they eat more, and bringing one home is a commitment.

But if you could only meet them.

From day one, Rocky and Tank have been nothing but love. They are the biggest, sweetest love bugs and have never shown us an ounce of aggression. They just want to be loved, be close to their people and soak up every bit of attention they can get.

They are everything people mean when they say gentle giants. ❤️

Tank is 5 years old and Rocky is only 2–3. Both are neutered, fully vaccinated and heartworm negative.

And they are wasting their days and nights in shelter kennels.

That’s the part that hurts.

Dogs this loving should have someone to lean that giant head against. They should have soft beds, a home to stretch out in and people who light up when they walk into the room. They should know what it feels like to belong to someone again.

Rocky and Tank have so much love to give. They’re just waiting for someone willing to give them a chance.

Please share these boys. Somewhere out there are the people who need these gentle giants just as much as Rocky and Tank need them. 🐾❤️

🐷🐾 A GOOD CAT, GENEROUS HUMANS & A WHOLE LOT OF HEART 🐾🐷

We have a pretty great story to share with you, and it starts with a former shelter cat named LeRoy. ❤️🐱

LeRoy was adopted from us by his human, Dave, a few years ago. Apparently LeRoy hasn’t forgotten where he came from, because he has decided it was time to give back to the shelter that helped him find his home.

And LeRoy doesn’t mess around.

He donated a whole hog. 🐱🐷😂

At least, that’s the official story according to Dave, who insists that LeRoy gets the credit for this donation.

In reality, Dave came up with this idea completely on his own. Nobody asked him. He simply thought of a way he could help our shelter and the animals in our care, and then he made it happen.

And we think there’s something pretty special about that. ❤️

An animal who once came through our shelter now has a wonderful home of his own, and a few years later, his family is finding a way to help the animals who are here today waiting for that same happy ending.

LeRoy, THANK YOU. Thank you for remembering your roots, giving back to your old shelter, and apparently keeping Dave around all these years as your personal assistant and financial manager. 😹

And Dave, we know you’re trying to give LeRoy all the credit, but you’re not getting out of this that easily. ❤️

Thank you for thinking of us. Thank you for coming up with this idea entirely on your own and then following through with such an incredibly generous donation. Thank you for taking something you had and turning it into an opportunity to help animals you may never even meet.

Those kinds of acts mean more to a small shelter than people probably realize. Every bag of food, every vaccination, every warm bed, every medical bill and every animal we are able to help is possible because people choose to care.

Sometimes that caring apparently comes in the form of an entire pig donated by a cat. 😂🐷🐱

We are so grateful for you, Dave. And we’re pretty darn grateful that a few years ago, you chose one of our cats and gave LeRoy a home. ❤️🐾

But this story gets even better…

Our wonderful Pat Hill stepped up and donated the processing!

Pat is our Board President, but that title doesn’t begin to cover everything she does for this shelter. She gives her time, energy, support, ideas, and an absolutely GIANT heart to our animals and our mission. She is constantly finding ways to help, often quietly and without looking for any recognition. We are incredibly grateful for her. ❤️🐾

So thanks to LeRoy, Dave and Pat, we are excited to announce our (drum roll please)

🎟️🐷 HOG RAFFLE! 🐷🎟️

The hog has already been professionally processed and divided into FOUR quarters, which means we will have FOUR WINNERS!

🥓 Each winner receives ¼ of the processed hog! 🥩

And here’s the best part: every ticket purchased helps the animals in our care.

🐷 Pork for a purpose.
🐾 Tickets for a cause.
🐱 Courtesy of one very generous shelter alumnus.
❤️ Made possible by people with really big hearts.

THANK YOU, DAVE & LeROY, for this wonderfully unique and generous way of supporting our animals.

And THANK YOU, PAT HILL, for donating the processing and for the hundred other things you do for this shelter simply because your heart is enormous.

Now there is only one question left…

WHO WANTS TO BRING HOME THE BACON?! 🥓😂

🎟️ Tickets: 3 for $10 or 1 for $5
📅 Drawing: date to be announced
📍 Get your tickets: come see us at Heinz Field today and tomorrow! We will continue selling after the garage sale event!
4 WINNERS • ¼ PROCESSED HOG PER WINNER

Please share, grab some tickets, and help us turn LeRoy’s pig into help for his fellow shelter animals! 🐱🐷🐾❤️

799 days.

For 799 days, Billy waited.

I finally get to say the words I’ve hoped I would someday be able to say:

Billy, the very best boy, has been ADOPTED. 🥹❤️

Billy’s story didn’t start with us.

He was found and rescued by Kaila with Webster County Animal Protection & Lucky Dog Training after being discovered padlocked inside of a kennel. He was terrified. He was skin and bones. And whatever Billy had experienced before that moment left scars that weren’t always visible.

What he needed most was time. Safety. TLC. And people willing to understand that sometimes surviving changes you.

Over the last 799 days, we’ve gotten to know every wonderfully quirky piece of Billy.

He is terrified of storms. He hates being kenneled. He doesn’t like being left alone. He has his own opinions about how life should work, and he isn’t shy about sharing them. 😂 His quirky antics and his needs could be a turnoff to some people.

But Billy was never looking for some people.

He needed his people.

People who wouldn’t expect him to forget what happened to him. People who would understand that some of his behaviors came from a place they may never fully know. People who would give him the freedom to still be Billy while also giving him the safety and reassurance he spent so much of his life without.

There were so many times I truly believed Billy would eventually become one of my personal dogs. Not because we had given up on finding his home, but because after enough time passed, I started wondering if the home Billy needed was ever going to come along.

And if it didn’t, I knew he would always have one with me.

But somehow, after 799 days, the right people finally found him.

Not people willing to put up with Billy’s quirks.

People who love him because he’s Billy.

There is something incredibly emotional about watching a dog who once sat terrified and padlocked inside a kennel walk away with a family of his own.

Billy survived the part of his story that tried to break him.

Then he spent 799 days surrounded by people who loved him while we waited for the ones who would love him forever.

And now, finally, our very best boy gets to go home. ❤️

Happy adoption day, Billy.

You were worth every single one of those 799 days.

Go be weird. Go be stubborn. Go steal the blankets, fear the thunder, demand reassurance, make your humans laugh, and take up every inch of the life you fought so hard to have.

Most of all, go be Billy.

You are finally home. 🐾❤️

Update - following the weather forecast, we’re hoping to set up after lunch unless we get more storm surprises!

We’re delayed getting started this morning thanks to the weather, but our first visitor of the day doesn’t seem too bothered. She’s hanging out with us, watching the rain and waiting for her mom to come back.

In the meantime, she’s made herself right at home, collected some scratches, supervised operations, and possibly been promoted to Assistant Shelter Director to the Regional Manager. 😂

We all kinda love each other already. 🥰

10/10 would recommend getting stuck in the rain with this face.

Come on who needs an old lady to retire with!

WANTED….quiet home and a sunny window!

This is Barbie. She’s an older kitty that we would love to find a foster (or forever!) home for. She is on a prescription diet which makes it pretty challenging to incorporate her into our community rooms.

We really would prefer her to be enjoying her golden years relaxing on a cat tower instead of in a cubbie so if you have a quiet home, a soft couch, a warm lap and can make sure she only eats her special diet we would love to talk to you about fostering (or adopting!) Barbie.

She is front paw declawed, very quiet, gentle and sweet. We will provide her prescription food.

You can find the application at www.emmetcountyanimalshelter.org just put Barbie in the animal you are interested in and comment foster or adoptive home. If you have a question, shoot us a message.

🐾 HEY FRIENDS… WE NEED YOUR STUFF! 🐾

Moffitt Animal Shelter will be set up down at the Heinz Field parking lot during the Hwy 3 Garage Sales this Thursday, Friday & Saturday!

We’re raising money for the shelter animals, which means we need things to sell. And this is your official permission to get rid of some stuff.

🍪 BAKED GOODS — Cookies, bars, breads, pies, puppy chow… if it has sugar, butter, chocolate, or makes people forget they’re supposed to be on a diet, BRING IT.

🥒 PRODUCE — Has your garden gotten out of control? Are you afraid to make eye contact with your zucchini plants? Do you have 47 tomatoes on your counter and absolutely no plan for them? WE CAN HELP.

🏷️ SELLABLE STUFF — Household items, decorations, kitchen stuff, tools, knickknacks, treasures, “I have no idea why I bought this” items… bring it on!

Just no clothing please! We have to draw the line somewhere. 🤷🏼‍♀️

You can drop donations off at Moffitt Animal Shelter throughout the week or bring them right down to us during the sale on Thursday, Friday or Saturday.

Everything we raise goes right back to taking care of our shelter animals. ❤️🐶🐱

So clean out that cupboard.
Pick those tomatoes.
Bake those cookies.
And go stare into your garage until something volunteers as tribute.

Don’t have anything to donate? COME SHOP! We fully support buying someone else’s stuff immediately after getting rid of your own stuff. That is basically how garage sales work. 😂

We appreciate ANYTHING you can donate to help us raise some money for the animals. Seriously, you guys always come through for us and we are so grateful. ❤️

Please share and help us spread the word!

Come for the bargains. Stay for the baked goods. Spend money because the dogs and cats said so. 🐶🐱💰

💙 MEET INDIGO! 💙

Sometimes sheltering takes a little creativity and a whole lot of teamwork.

Indigo showed up at Faith and her family’s home one day, but unfortunately, we didn’t have an open kennel to bring him into the shelter. Faith and her family graciously agreed to keep him safe until we had room.

Well… our kennels have continued to fill with emergency cases. And while that’s unfortunate for us, it may actually work out beautifully for Indigo. 🐾

Rather than moving him from Faith’s home ➡️ to the shelter ➡️ and then into an adoptive home, we’d love to send this sweet boy straight from the loving arms he’s already in to his FOREVER HOME! 🏡💙

We had Faith take Indigo to the vet, and his vetting is being handled through us just like any other shelter animal. His regular adoption fee still applies.

Now we just need to find Indigo’s person.

If you’re interested in adopting this handsome little guy, fill out an adoption application for INDIGO! And if you can’t adopt, please share. His new family might be one share away. 🐱💙

And a huge thank-you to Faith and her family for being willing to tag-team with us and give Indigo a safe place to land while our shelter is bursting at the seams. This is what community rescue looks like. ❤️
