Laparoscopic surgery is now available at NVC Canyon Lakes! ❤️🐾

Laparoscopy is a minimally invasive approach to surgery that uses a small camera and specialized instruments through a few small incisions instead of one larger incision.

For many pets, that can mean smaller incisions, less discomfort, and a faster, more comfortable recovery. It also gives our veterinarian an enhanced view during the procedure. 💙🩵

Laparoscopic surgery can be used for several procedures, including spays, giving pet owners another surgical option for their dogs.

Muzzle training is a life skill, and Astra is the perfect example of why. ❤️🐾

Dr. Campbell has been seeing Astra since she was just a puppy, and one of the best things her family did was introduce muzzle training from the very beginning.

Because her muzzle has always been associated with positive, low-stress experiences, it’s simply another normal part of her veterinary visits. Astra comes in happy and cooperative, helping make her exams safer and less stressful for everyone—especially her. 💙🩵

And an important reminder: wearing a muzzle does not mean a dog is aggressive. Muzzles can be an incredibly useful tool for reducing stress, preventing fear from escalating, and helping dogs feel more comfortable during situations that may be unfamiliar or overwhelming.

Bella hasn’t been feeling her best and came to see us for some tummy troubles. ❤️🐾

Even on a rough day, she still had a few very cute tail wags to share with us. 💙🩵 We’re hoping this sweet girl is back to feeling like herself very soon!

This is a great reminder of why a complete dermatologic workup is so important!

Skin disease can have many different causes, and while it’s tempting to treat based on appearance alone, diagnostics help us treat the underlying problem instead of just the symptoms.

In this case, a simple skin scrape revealed Demodex mites, completely changing the treatment plan. Cytology, skin scrapings, fungal testing, and other diagnostics are invaluable tools that help us get our patients on the right treatment sooner and avoid unnecessary medications.

Every itchy pet deserves a thorough workup! 🐾
