I am heartbroken that Tab is still at there…..😢

🚨 URGENT FOSTER NEEDED FOR TAB 🚨

Our longest-resident big boy needs a new foster parent! Tab is almost three years old and every bit the gentle giant. He can get excited when meeting new friends, but underneath all that enthusiasm is one big softie who loves being included. He’s smart too, already knowing commands like sit, lay down, and shake, and he’s more than happy to show off when treats are involved.

FOR FOSTER, Tab will need a home without cats or small children. He has also shown some dog selectivity, so if you have another dog at home, we recommend calling us to schedule a meet-and-greet first (preferably with a lower-energy dog) to make sure everyone is comfortable.

If you can give Tab the shelter break he needs, apply to foster at www.athenshumanesociety.org/foster today. Our Foster Coordinator will reach out with more information and can answer any questions you have about bringing this big boy home.

“We thought we were going to have a Zen moment… instead neither yin nor yang bothered cooperating.” 🤣🤣

From “absolutely out of control” to strolling through downtown Atlanta like a seasoned gentleman 🐶✨

This boy came to me for a 2‑week B&T with big feelings, big energy, and zero chill. And yes — we made huge progress together. But the real magic didn’t happen in my home… it happened in his.

His owner picked up the leash and never put it down. She worked with him every single day, stayed consistent, stayed patient, and kept showing up — literally. She comes back every 90 days to check in, fine‑tune, and make sure she’s doing right by him.

And now?
He’s walking through downtown Atlanta making good choices, handling the world, and proving exactly what happens when training doesn’t stop at the trainer’s door.

I’m so proud of both of them 🫶🐾

Letti worked so hard to learn how to stay in place and actually relax. Settling didn’t come naturally — she’d pop up, wiggle, stare at me, try every hobby except chilling out.

Most people give up here, but the best thing you can do is let your dog figure it out. Give them time to experiment, fail a little, and discover calm on their own.

And look at her now — choosing stillness like a pro 🫶🐶

“Is it illegal to not return a dog to your client…? Asking for a friend 😉”

“One ear for whatever nonsense my trainer just said. One ear for treats. Guess which one’s working.”

Knightly has been one of our longest residents in the Project Homebound program, and I truly can’t understand why. This sweet boy has been waiting for over a year, and every single day he shows us just how much love he has to give.

Yes, he gets excited when he first meets new people — but can you blame him? When you’ve been overlooked for so long, every hello feels like a chance at the life he’s been dreaming of. Underneath that burst of enthusiasm is a well‑trained, loyal, deeply affectionate dog who just wants to belong to someone.

Knightly is wonderful with kids, eager to learn, and happiest when he’s moving. If you’re someone who loves taking your dog on runs, adventures, or just enjoys an active companion by your side, he would be perfect for you.

He deserves his chance. He deserves his person. And we’re hoping that person finally sees him. ❤️🐕🫶
