Two dogs from the same home, here for the same service (nail trims), and each with a completely different personality and response.

Rae was excited and easily desensitized to the Dremel.
Sassy was quiet, reserved, and a big no-thank-you to the Dremel.

This is such a good reminder that every pet is an individual.

Even pets from the same household can have different comfort levels and needs during grooming. That’s why my team and I believe it’s so important to meet each pet where they are and build their confidence from there.

The goal is never to force a pet through the process. The goal is to create a grooming experience that feels safe and supportive for the animal in front of us.

to the early days of COVID, when my husband and I were sewing and making masks to hand out to local businesses and members of our community.

At the time, everything felt uncertain. Like so many people, we were trying to figure out how to help, how to keep going, and how to support the people around us in whatever ways we could.

Looking back, it’s one of those moments that reminds me how much heart, resilience, and community came out of such a difficult time. Everyone was doing their best with what they had, and this was one small way we could show up for others.

It’s wild to think how much life, business, and our community have grown and changed since then. Sometimes the flashbacks hit a little differently when you remember how much love people were giving during the hardest moments. 💚

When we think about caring for our pets, we don’t always think about how those routines can also impact the environment.

At Groom With Me, sustainability is something I try to be mindful of in how the business operates. From being responsible with water usage to choosing eco-friendly grooming products, there are many ways our industry can reduce its environmental impact.

We also collect pet fur from grooming appointments and donate it to Matter of Trust, where it’s used to create mats that help absorb oil spills and assist with water filtration.

Pet owners can help too by brushing their pets regularly, keeping up with routine grooming appointments, and choosing products that are safer for both pets and the environment.

How often should my pet be groomed?

This is one of the most common questions I get, and the answer is: it depends. Every pet is different, and grooming frequency can vary based on a few important factors, including:

🐾 coat or fur type
🐾 skin type
🐾 your pet’s lifestyle
🐾 your preferred coat length
🐾 how much maintenance you’re doing at home between appointments

As a general rule, most pets do best on a grooming schedule of about every 6–8 weeks. Staying on a schedule helps prevent matting, manage shedding, maintain skin and coat health, and keep your pet more comfortable overall.

Some pets may need more frequent visits, while others can go a little longer depending on their individual needs.
