You may have heard that we will be offering cooperative care training. How do you know if your dog is a good candidate?

Does your dog…
- hide under the chair at the vet and need to be coaxed out?
- Shy away from the ear and eye scope near their face?
- Have a hard time with nail trims?
- Become uncomfortable with medical procedures outside the vet office like ear cleaning or paw wiping?
-Overall seem fearful and nervous at the vet?

Or, do you have a young dog or puppy that you would like to see get off to the right start?

Then you may have a great candidate for our cooperative care program!

Interested? Please reach out to the clinic and our trainer will get in touch with you!

We are so excited to announce that we will be offering Cooperative Care sessions! These one-on-one training sessions will be available starting on September 1st.

Cooperative Care is a training approach that teaches dogs to participate in and be more comfortable in various handling situations where they may feel scared or anxious. Examples of handling can include putting on a harness, nail trims, physical exams and the various components, having their feet cleaned after going outside, and so much more.

Over the course of several sessions with our behavioral trainer, we’ll identify your dog’s triggers and discomforts, building a plan that will help at home, in medical settings, and anywhere else your dog may go.

Our goal is to build your dog’s confidence and provide the skills they need to make visits and handling more enjoyable for both parties. Before training sessions begin, we’ll schedule a consult where you and our trainer will begin to formulate a plan that will best help your pup.

Have you noticed anxiety at the vet? Reach out to the clinic with questions and our trainer will contact you directly! And stay tuned in the next few weeks as we share more about cooperative care!

As we wrap up Assistant Appreciation Week, we want to say thank you for celebrating with us! Your comments and kindness are amazing, and we are so grateful!

Assistants are often overlooked and under-appreciated in veterinary medicine, but their contributions are so important to patient care. We happen to have some of the very best on our team.

Meet Ella! Ella has been with JVC for about 3 years, primarily working as a CSR when she’s not at school.

Ella began training as an assistant recently, hoping to gain more hands-on experience as she works her way toward vet school! Her love for science and farm animals naturally led her into vet med, and she’s particularly interested in neurological cases.

Ella says that her favorite part of this field is “Helping owners through stressful sick pet appointments and seeing the smile return to their faces as relief is brought to their pet.” We’re so glad to have you on the team, Ella!

Savannah’s superpower is connecting with and understanding animals. She is our Fear-Free team leader, and is deeply invested in making sure our clinic feels comfortable and welcoming to even the most worried pets.

Savannah’s experience ranges from rescues to doggie daycares, and she ended up at JVC almost 6 years ago. She loves the opportunity to help heal animals, and says, “I wanted to make a positive impact rather than just get a paycheck, and each patient is a new opportunity to do something good.”

Savannah, you do so much to improve the well-being of each patient that walks through our door, and we cannot thank you enough!

Kayla has loved animals since she was young, and she landed in the perfect field to fulfill her childhood dreams! She has worked in vet med for about 3.5 years, and JVC has been lucky to have her for 2 of those.

Kayla is an incredibly hard worker, and we can always count on her to take whatever is thrown her way with a smile and a great attitude. She loves helping clients navigate wellness visits, but is especially passionate about allergy and skin issues. And of course, she loves puppy visits!

Kayla, JVC is better because you work here and we’re so grateful for you!
