Between taking care of does and kids, milking and dealing with the ever changing Michigan weather, I have had little time to update. I will spare the details, but we have had 4 more does fresh since last post.

Last Friday I had to call the vet out for 2yo2F Cause who I just couldn't get fully dilated. She was open enough when he got there we could pull the first kid, but the second threw us both for a loop. Only a leg was presenting, and it bent all directions. Eventually a DOA kid was pulled that was missing its eyes and had no joints. A "Noodle kid" it was called. No tears in my doe and one live buck kid.

Next came FKN Teddy. And wouldn't you know it. For the 2nd year in a row I get 2 does!! Easy delivery. Thank you Teddy.

Yesterday was both good and bad. We'll start with the bad and make it short. I had one AI doe due on the 28th of Feb, but she was found bloody about 3 months ago so it was assumed she aborted. Well, lo and behold, yesterday, after spending most of the day in the barn with zero signs I walked out to feed last night to find her down in a corner with a head sticking out. Kid was gone so I got it pulled and sat there in amazement. 12 days past her due date that we all were sure she aborted from. Sad thing. My doe is fine, but almost no milk. Only time will tell if she ups production.

But before that, a much anticipated freshening 3 years in the making. Egypt is a 3yo FF who I kept dry her first year to show but didnt have a trailer big enough to haul everyone so she was left at home. She was bred to be a 2yoFF, ultrasounded as pregnant but either absorbed or aborted them and didnt freshen. This was her last chance. Egypt is a huge doe with my foundation Alpines on both sides of her pedigree and the excitement Ive had while waiting has been driving me crazy. FINALLY after 3 years waiting, she kidded yesterday. Our SEVENTH SET OF TRIPLETS!!! Her udder is everything I have hoped for and I am looking forward to getting her in the ring this summer.

We have several top quality doe kids available, and one American buck kid. Message me or the farm page for more info!

2 weeks shy of 15 years old. I cherish every day we have left with Grandma.

It was a somewhat warm and sunny day for once here in frostbitten Michigan; and during chores I catch the old lady standing at the gate enjoying the sunshine peeking theough the door. So what does dear husband do? He gives the old lady what she wants. You still look amazing Grammy, but NO more boys for you!!!

Been a while since the last post. So much has happened since then. Let me give a recap of the last 9 days.

Feb 18th. Void and Alaska appear to be in early labor and as the day progresses Void ends up kidding amazingly at 4:30 pm. Buck/doe twins!! The buck is reserved, the doe is available.

Alaska seems content so we keep watch.

Feb 19th. Alaska seems to be progressing ever so slowly and finally around 2 I see a string of goo. At 3 with no pushing and no progress I check and find a set of hocks. I get the first kid pulled and the amniotic fluid encasing the kid is thick like jelly and doesnt come off. He never takes a breath. I reach in again and find a set of back feet and pull the 2nd, very much alive, doe kid. She too is covered in jelly, but I was able to keep it out of her airways. Again I go in and am greeted with hocks so pull another breech. This one too is covered in nasty and also never takes a breath. All amniotic sacs are hard to break, are thick with fluid that is abnormal in itself.

Consensus is Alaska developed Placentitis which in turn killed the two buck kids just days before, and I'm lucky to have saved any of them. Alaska is on antibiotics and pain killers and is healing like a champ. Her doe kid will be available.

Feb 21st. Eve decided to kid just after morning chores with classic nose and toes on both of her stunning kids. Buck/doe twins. The buck is sold, the doe kid is available.

Needless to say its been a whirlwind of emotions these past 9 days, but everyone is doing well now and for that I am truly greatful. We have a break until the 7th when 3yo 2F QMF FKN TEDDY is due and starts the next round of kidding.

We have some really exciting doe kids available, and only a couple of bucks will be offered this year so if you are looking for something special please.message the farm page and we can help you out.

One more down, and one more set of TRIPLETS!

Around 2:30 this morning during camera checks I notice 3yo 2F Cup with a string of goo. I gather my things and head down to the barn. After watching her pushing for 30 mins with no progress I check. Sure enough, another dang breech kid. That one was a simple enough fix. I've only done that a few times already this year. 3:36am for number 1 and it's a DOE. Cup goes down quickly after that and starts pushing again. After 15 mins of some really strong pushes and no progress I go in again and am greeted by 3 feet. One big front foot and two smaller hind feet. I decide to go for the smaller of the two first as I could clearly feel that kid. Backwards it came and all is well, except this one has extra dangles between the legs. 🍒 Then things just stop. I know there is another kid and that the sack had already broke but when I reached in, nothing was where it was supposed to be. All I had was an upside down front shoulder. I could not reach the head as it was underneath the ribcage deep down. I quickly called the hubby for help and we spent the next 10 mins trying to rearrange that kid to find the head. I needed room so we woke up the kiddo and him and Adrian held Cup up by her back legs so I could have more room. After 30 mins and some serious cranking on the kids head and neck, I was able to get it up and starting into the birth canal. I had one foot and a head, upside down, but I had them. So I pulled. IT'S ALIVE! And its another DOE!!! Airways are cleared and kid is handed off so I can check my doe. Through this whole ordeal Cup had been nothing but helpful, even when I went in past my elbow, she never complained, never tried to run away. What a trooper and I am so happy to say this morning everyone is perfectly healthy and happy. All kids are vibrant and doing fantastic. Cup has cleaned and is bright, alert and happy to be free of 21lbs of kids!! 2 does and a buck for Cup. Time will tell, but I believe they all may be POLLED as well. Our 5th set of triplets so far this year. Times like these are when I am thankful I do not flush my does. Hehehe.

Still waiting on overdue QMF INTO THE DARKNESS 'Void' to kid. Then we have 2 more due in February.

I was waiting to see the outcome before posting on our next kidding after Bungie and had planned to make that update this morning; however, after spending the night napping and checking cameras every hour I knew it was going to be busy. So I had to wait until now. In the wee hours of Friday morning QMF SMOKE ON THE MOUNTAIN had not kidded and had been in labor all day along with Bungie. A quick exam proved things were wrong and so intervention was needed. It took a lot out of both myself and Shine, but by the end of it all I was able to pull one massive buck kid. Shine was shocky and needed a few days of support, but I am happy to say she has bounced back and is almost 100%. Her buck kid is also amazing despite his extremely rough entrance, to where we all thought he wasn't going to be with us upon arrival. He is rather impressive I must admit.

Today was another story entirely:

By 10am I had 3 does in labor. There were the two 2yo FF, and Valkyrie who had lost ligs and were miserable. At 11:30 2yoFF QMF JUPITER'S NORTH STAR kidded with twin POLLED bucks, and an hour behind her QMF WE ARE ONE also kidded with twin POLLED bucks. Go figure. 6:30pm rolls around and I check the cameras for Valkyrie and notice her pushing slightly so we head back out there. I find Valkyrie down in a corner and pushing. After a bit I check progression and find none, even after some really good pushes. A little further reach and I knew why. A spine greeted me. Ughh, not good. Thanks to Kassandra Brown for holding Valkyrie while I rearranged and pulled her kids. I was able to get the first one pushed up and pulled out backwards and going before checking again. By the time I turned around I could see a nose only so I once again did some rearranging and got out numbers 2 and 3. A buck and two does!

PHEW

Cup's (QMF PUT SOME LIQUOR IN IT) ligaments are gone and shes building an udder so we are watching her closely. QMF INTO THE DARKNESS is also overdue.

Send coffee pls. Hehehehe.

Only 5 days late!!! This evening at 630 QMF Call Me Bungie 2*M EX92 EEEE kidded with our third set of TRIPLETS! Bungie is a pro and spit all 3 of these kids out with ease in under 30 minutes. Two beautiful striped cou claire does followed by a most handsome cou claire buck. I am most thankful for healthy does and healthy kids. Bungie is looking as fantastic as always and I am excited to get another triplet lactation under her belt. Bungies kids are American and all are available.

Yesterday was a whirlwind of hay getting from 2 different places on opposite sides of the county. Usually an all day thing. Except when you have a doe in labor. Things just take longer.

Yesterday evening QMF ALAKAI'S ROYAL LEGACY 3*M EX90 kidded with her first ever set of TRIPLETS!!! In true Royal fashion however, they are ALL sporting extra parts 🍒 🍒 🍒. The dark cham and black boys have wattles, the lighter cham has one half of one wattle!! I am most excited though to finally get a good year for production with her! Singles never make for stellar lactations.

We are still waiting on 2 overdue does, another comes due tomorrow. Then we have 4 due on the 14th. The rest trickle in from there until the end of April when we have 9 due in 2 days.

Milkation is officially over!

QMF IV'S REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE kidded with TRIPLETS around 1am. Her labor stalled around 9pm so I went in to check to find her barely dilated. I worked on her a few minutes and she opened enough I could feel what I thought was a bottom jaw. I only worked a few mins before I let her rest while watching her on the camera. At midnight with still no progression it was time to intervene. This time when I went in I found her to be fully dilated but what I thought was a bottom jaw was actually a hock. 1st kid was breech. Scooped those back lags and out pops a Cham doe. She was so dry her sack remnants were stuck to her fur and I honestly didnt expect her to be alive. Boy am I glad she proved me wrong. I gave Rebel a few before going in again and this time, at least I did find two legs and a mouth. Only issue was this next kid was full grown. Took some muscle to get him out, and Rebel tried as hard as she could to help remain standing. She held on for a while but ultimately the size was a bit rough and down she went. It helped move a few things and I was able to get the 2nd kid pulled. MASSIVE 14LB BUCK!!! Handed the kid off to be dried and focused back on Rebel. Got her up and bounced her, sure enough another. Her labor has been long and hard so I didnt wait. I went in carefully because the kid before caused her to immediate swell up inside. Once in I could feel another set of hocks. Once again Rebel laid down and I was able to get those back feet up and out. Another doe! Rebel is cleared and given her warm water with some pain meds. By this morning she had passed her placenta and was up and eating well. Swelling is at a.minimum, and thankfully she is free from tears. Thay udder she has coming in is simply breathtaking and I can not wait to see it full.

Rebel was bred to Addi-Hill Lono Soothsayer and these kids are Purebred French.

The countdown is on!!!

QMF IV'S REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE 3*M is due Feb 5 and boy is she looking amazing! Rebel will be a 4yo 2F (she never cycled last year) but I can already see the milk is gonna be flowing. As a 2yo FF she came out swinging peaking at almost 14lbs. To say I am excited for this 2nd lactation is an understatement.

Rebel is bred to ADDI-HILL LONO SOOTHSAYER *B for French kids.

Rebel is AI sired by BAYVIEW JAMES DEAN *B
