For Immediate Release

The Columbia-Greene Humane Society is pleased to announce our Free Adoption Event, starting on Saturday, October 19, 2026, and ending on Saturday, October 31. During that week, all cats, dogs, and small animals will be available for adoption at no cost.

This special event has been made possible through the generous support of Subaru, as a part of their nationwide Subaru Loves Pets® initiative, which aims to support animal welfare organizations and help shelter pets find loving homes.

In preparation for the event, potential adopters are strongly encouraged to submit adoption applications in advance, as same-day approvals are not guaranteed. Early submission helps ensure a smoother process and allows more time for application review.

For more information about adoptable animals, to submit an adoption application, or learn more about upcoming events, please visit www.cghs.org or call (518) 828-6044.

💕 Meet Maggie & Gin Gin! 💕

These two sweet souls found themselves at the shelter after their beloved owner sadly passed away. ❤️ Maggie is a gorgeous 12-year-old tabby, and Gin Gin is a stunning 6–8-year-old orange tiger. As far as we know, these two have spent their whole lives together!

Understandably, they were pretty shy when they first arrived, but with a little time and patience, they've started to come out of their shells and show us their true colors. Now, they're incredibly affectionate and ready to find a home where they can feel safe and loved again. 🥹💗

Gin Gin did test positive for FIV, which means his immune system is weakened. The good news? Cats with FIV can still live long, happy, healthy lives! Maggie tested negative.

While we aren't requiring them to be adopted together, we'd absolutely LOVE to see these two stay side by side. After everything they've been through, there's something so special about the thought of them getting to spend their golden years together. 🐾💕

Give us a call to hear more about the adoption process. 518-828-6044 📞

Meet Bailey! 💛🐾

Just look at that face! 😍 Bailey is a gorgeous 2-year-old Lab who came to us after her owners could no longer care for her. Now, she’s ready to find a family who will love her as much as she’ll love them! 🥰

Bailey is your typical happy-go-lucky Lab! She LOVES playing fetch and is happiest when she has a toy in her mouth. 🎾🧸 She’s looking for an active home with plenty of opportunities for exercise, playtime, and adventure! 🌄

Because of her size and energy level, a home with older kids would be the best fit for this bouncy girl. 🤸‍♀️

We haven’t tested Bailey with other animals just yet, but if you’re interested in adopting her and have other pets at home, we can expedite her testing! ❤️🐾

Stop in today and meet Bailey! We're open Monday-Saturday from 11:30-4.

Rubble is a 5-year-old Dachshund/Chihuahua mix who is patiently waiting for his forever home. 🐶 His previous family welcomed a new baby, and unfortunately, Rubble wasn’t getting the attention and one-on-one time he needed. 💔

We’re letting him settle in before introducing him to other animals 🐾 but there’s one thing we already know for sure:

This. Boy. Loves. People. Like… A LOT. 😂❤️

Rubble is looking for a family with plenty of time to shower him with love and attention. 💞 And don’t let that 5-year-old age fool you—this little guy is still go, go, go! 💥 He wants to be wherever his people are, doing whatever they’re doing.

If you’re looking for a loyal little shadow who will happily follow you around and soak up every ounce of attention you’re willing to give, Rubble might just be your guy! 🥰🏡 give us a call at 518-828-6044 📞

Looking for a permanent sleepover buddy?! 💤🐾

David is your guy! He promises to be the perfect companion for movie nights, bedtime snuggles, and all your late-night adventures. He’s an independent guy, though, so while he enjoys some quality cuddle time, he may occasionally prefer to have a little “me time.” 😸

There’s just one little catch… you’ll have to take the bottom bunk. 😉

Stop by today to meet David! We're open Monday-Saturday from 11:30-4. ❤️
