About the Day Purpose:
Founded in 2005 by Colleen Paige, the day raises awareness for endangered species, animal conservation, and preserving natural habitats.

History: It honors the legacy of wildlife conservationist Steve Irwin.

Local Context: In California, the State Senate also proclaimed September 4, 2026, as California Wildlife Day in memory of Jackie the famous bald eagle.

How to Observe Support Sanctuaries: Donate to or volunteer with local ethical animal rescues and sanctuaries.

Educate: Learn about local endangered species and the human impacts on their environments.

Protect Habitats: Plant native, wildlife-friendly plants in your garden or reduce your carbon footprint.

We are now Fear Free Certified! Proud to be part of this positive pet community!

Announcement! We are currently enrolled in a program called Fear Free.
Fear Free certification is a professional training program that teaches how to reduce fear, anxiety, and stress in animals.

This program is going to be a great refresher for things we already know about reducing stress in addition to learning new things. Programs like this really come in handy, especially when meeting new pet friends that are timid or reserved.

I have and will always be about patience, love and positive interactions with animals.
