🐰 OUR POLICY — MUST READ

I’m going to be blunt because I believe honesty is better than sugarcoating. If you’re considering a rabbit from Shaded AcreRabbitry, please read this before messaging me.

❤️ HONESTY COMES FIRST

I do videos on the rabbits I offer, explaining both their strengths AND their weaknesses.

I’m not going to hide faults or only show you the pretty side. I want you to know exactly what you’re considering before you buy.

🩺 HEALTH

I do not give tours of my barn and no longer allow buyers in their space. Unfortunately, I have been open and allowed it in the past. However, due too rabbits being a prey animal, they got spooked, broke a tooth.

Going forward, for the safety and health of my herd NO ONE but me or my family is allowed in the rabbit area.

I cannot guarantee a rabbit’s health once it leaves my hands.

If something comes up, please contact me. We can discuss what happened and figure out what makes sense.

If, in the unlikely event, it turns out to be something I genuinely missed, I will offer a full refund within reason.

However:

• I am not responsible for problems caused by transport or exposure to other animals.
• Once a rabbit has been in your care for more than a few days, I am no longer responsible for health issues that develop afterward.
• Please educate yourself about how easily rabbits can experience digestive upset, especially with changes in diet, environment, or routine.

🌾 MY RABBITS' DIET

My rabbits are fed:

• Free-choice pellets
• Free-choice hay

Oats, BOSS, and other supplements are used sparingly.

I breed for condition, so supplements generally aren't necessary. Occasionally, a rabbit may need a little extra help after a hard molt or when bouncing back from a difficult period. In those situations, I may use an additive.

🎨 VIENNA RABBITS

My Vienna rabbits are NOT sold to homes mixing colors.

They are for SERIOUS SHOW HOMES ONLY.

My Viennas are shaded and chocolate free, and I expect buyers to understand the breeding goals behind them.

🐰 NO MORE PET SALES

I no longer sell rabbits as pets.

My rabbits are offered for SHOW or BREEDING purposes only.

The exception is for repeat pet owners who have already proven themselves to be excellent homes. If that's you, we can absolutely talk.

Unfortunately, I've had too many experiences with pet homes being neglectful or returning rabbits. Because of that, I have made the decision to stop selling to general pet homes.

💰 PRICING

My pri ci ng is based on TYPE — period.

My formula:

# of Strengths ÷ 26 = % × 6 0 0 = P ri ce

The price is then rounded to the nearest 25.

Prices are NON-NEGOTIABLE.

That includes multiple-rabbit purchases.

There is NO extra charge for color or temperament.

TYPE is the only consideration in my pr ici ng.

I will take 25% off the calculated type price for:

• An overweight brood animal
• A VM-marked rabbit that is non-showable

That discounted amount will be the rabbit's listed price.

🎓 4-H

I no longer offer 4-H discounts.

Serious kids and parents will pay the same price as everyone else.

Unfortunately, I've been burned too many times with discounts, so this is no longer something I negotiate.

🚗 MEETING / DELIVERY

If I need to meet you away from my home, there will be a gas charge.

The formula I use for that is total round trip miles ÷ my avg mpg = gallons used times current price per gas.

That charge will be added to the cost of the rabbit.

🏡 REHOMING

If you ever need to rehome a Shaded Acre Bun, please contact me first.

I would appreciate first right of refusal.

Depending on available space, I will usually try to buy the rabbit back.

I expect the same p r i c e that I s o l d for.

🚚 TRANSPORT

The ONLY transport I will use is:

Colleen Wagner
Green Gate Farm

I will not use other transporters.

❤️ BOTTOM LINE

I am very straightforward about my rabbits, my breeding program, and my policies.

I would rather have a difficult conversation before a sale than a misunderstanding afterward.

If you purchase a rabbit from me, you are agreeing to these policies.

Ask questions. Do your research. Know what you are buying. And most importantly — choose the rabbit that is right for YOUR program. 🐰

Let's start a trend of building EVERYONE up... the world needs a little appreciation for our breed and love for the rabbit! No hate towards one another... and so many other breeders that are doing a great job bettering the breed... that may not be on a pedigree. However, I am forever grateful for the people I have bought from and the lines that impact my herd.

We are all in this with the same goal. To improve the breed every generation. Hollands are a popular breed and hundreds of great breeders, big and small. Below is the list of people I have used to get the herd I had and what I am starting over with.

For any breed, made this for hollands as it's what I know best.

Every recognized breed has a standard though with weight and type requirements.

Some breeds even have markings requirements.

So please do your research before taking someone's word that its show quality!

Just a psa... seeing ppl try and cut back for winter and have seen a few listed as 4h or show quality, that are not.

My lil partner in crime I think. We took a road trip last minute to the Malvern show today, got there just for the end. He got his OWN black bunny today! He's so Happy.
Guess we are hooked now... One son got me in, the other going to keep me in. 😉

I'm still as indecisive as ever. 🤪

Been struggling finding time or excitement for these cute lil faces. But spent some time brushing their molty selves out and made myself breed a few for the first time in 5-6 months... 😬

I do feel Show hutch is working for the herd and we have the feed figured out 🤞

I tried to rebrand, but fb thinks it goes against standards and has deleted my other page 😏😒

So here we are... guess we will just continue with the same ol' same ol'.

That said, breeding is pretty sparingly as i just have so much other things taking my attention first and foremost. So not sure if or ever I will offer anything.... but never know on my indecisive brain. 🤣

I will be keeping the few I have for the few moments I do get to enjoy them, they will be for me.

I will also add, I have added a BEW project. But nothing in past sales has any chance of vienna. This project started after the sell out and just for me to play around with while "on break" from shows and the hobby in general. I will still have non vienna buns also. As I'm still picky about standard. So even though my goal I'd love is a stunning BEW, I still am just matching parts. So like miss Iced tea, I don't feel matches Dash well. She probably wont be used with the vienna, unless dash and/or my does produce a vienna buck to compliment her. Still type over color for me, just added color for a fun bonus here and there.

Hey, I guess I just can't stay away 😉
No not back yet...

But it has come to my attention, there is a BRs Shaded Acres rabbitry. So give him credit and use his full name when advertising a bunny very misleading to use just Shaded Acre, then ppl including myself think it came from here, although seeing the animal I knew it didn't, never was able to produce a clean sable point. Beautiful animals I wish I could take credit for... but just some ethical tips. Use the breeders full name not an abbreviation as to not get us mixed up!
