A year ago, if you would’ve asked me what I would do without Emerald and Whoz, I probably would’ve told you my program would fall apart without them. They were my foundational horses that built my program, and allowed so many people the opportunity to see just how amazing teachers Arabian horses are.
Fast forward to this fall, Emerald passed away in May and Whoz is fully retired from riding this summer. I never really imagined what my program would look like without those two being such a big part of it.
But what I didn’t expect was how many of my horses who had always been in the background would step up and fill those roles.
Shai, Taz, Zenzo, Steppin, and new addition Tito have all turned into such wonderful lesson horses and have quickly become some of the new favorites around the barn. They each have their own strengths, personalities, and lessons to teach our riders.
Of course, nobody will ever replace Emerald and Whoz, but it’s been really special watching these other horses find their place in the program and seeing just how much they have to offer.
