Ever wanted to help animals? Here's your chanceđź’—
I NEED HELP. And I need to be very clear about what that means.
I cannot continue running The Felix Foundation essentially by myself.
Today I am scrambling to get out the door, overwhelmed and panicking because I have somewhere I HAVE to be — and I am still out here feeding animals and making sure everything gets done because there is nobody available to step in.
The animals don't care if I'm sick. They don't care if I have an appointment, an emergency, or somewhere I need to be. They still need to be fed. They still need water. They still need medications, cleaning, enrichment, and care.
And right now, too much of that responsibility falls entirely on me.
I have some wonderful volunteers, and I am incredibly grateful for the people who have consistently helped me. But some live too far away to be available when something comes up, and the few reliable people close enough to help regularly are getting burned out too.
I need LOCAL volunteers. Howell and the surrounding area.
I need people who are willing to actually learn how this sanctuary operates. People who can become comfortable enough with our routines that eventually, if I'm sick, have an emergency, or simply need someone to feed so I can be somewhere else, I have someone I can call.
I'm not asking someone to be on call 24/7. I'm asking for enough committed, reliable people that there is actually a support system here.
You don't need wildlife experience. I can teach you. But I need people who show up, learn, communicate, and are willing to make a genuine commitment.
And I'm going to say something I never thought I would say publicly:
If I cannot build a reliable volunteer team moving forward, I will have to start making plans to close the sanctuary..
That's not a threat. That's reality.
I love these animals more than anything, but one person cannot sustainably run an entire sanctuary alone. I cannot continue sacrificing my physical and mental well-being trying to compensate for not having enough help.
There are a lot of people who love following the foxes. There are a lot of people who tell me how much they love what we do.
Right now, I need some of those people to actually show up.
If you're local to Howell, Michigan, and can commit to helping at least once a week, please send The Felix Foundation a private message.
I need cleaners. I need feeders. I need people interested in enrichment and animal care. Most importantly, I need reliable people who want to learn and become part of the team that keeps this sanctuary running.
Because I cannot do this alone anymore. I just need a couple solid local people
