It was a Western themed Hunt weekend atop, “A Stitch in Time” owned and loved by Robin Conrad.

We came, we saw, we jumped big, and we went fast.

All the thanks to Olivia and Noche for joining Potomac’s Hunter Pace with Mercy and me.

Mercy definitely redeemed herself. We jumped the High course at a vigorous speed. Midway through, I looked back at Liv, and suggested we walk because we forgot we weren’t in the High “Fast” category. Rather, we had entered the High “Optimum” Good thing we’re not competitive 🙈

Thank you Potomac Hunt for a challenging course from overnight precipitation.

Thank you Mercy for your smart reactions when the footing gets tough. (And to my farrier for keeping her well studded)

My newest mascot ALSO went hunting!

Sherlock was a total gentleman on all aspects of the day. It’s tough to go from a 17hh bay mare to a 15hh bay gelding… but he fits the Posh Team with a smile on his face.

We are happy to have this gem in the program. ❤️🖤

This time, hats off to Enzo, on his debut. He is a 5yr old Percheron Morgan.

Owned by Brenda and Walter Von Rautenkranz.

It’s hard to go from a thoroughbred to a Draft X in 48hrs but versatility is what I know best. 🦊🧡

There is nothing more rewarding than giving a young horse many “firsts”.

Not to be overcast…

I had the opportunity to hunt “Paint” a beloved long time client owned by the Von Rautenkranz Family.

Each year, this big boy grows in maturity and the hunt this past weekend was nothing short of that.

He has become a mount I am pleased to hand the reins over and ask my clients how their day was.

Can he be an ADHD hyper focused boy? Yes, but has he learned how to cope with it? Yes!! Consistency is key and I am so pleased with how this one has turned out.

It is exceptionally important to put time into your mount prior to tacking and riding. Client horse, Taco (owned and loved by Cathy Darling C**n) asked me to release some stress in his TMJ prior to bridling yesterday. On days when storms are blowing through, some horses default to being tense and braced in their TMJ. This directly impacts bit acceptance and therefore contact. Usually, the sensitive horses will tell us before bridling.

A braced horse is a stressed horse and it’s our job to help them help themselves.

I promise, if we’re quiet enough to listen, they do ask. 💛

Beautiful LOW humidity day to sneak in 5mi with my POSH boarders.

Thank you both for venturing on the journey to a new gorgeous VA Park to explore. Sweet Run State Park.

As always, followed with some American favorites! Pretzel bites, hot dogs, and Mac and cheese. Horses were treated with peppermints.
