Good Mama bunnies have one setting -- "pull lots of fur".
Whether it's summer or winter, they don't care. After a couple of days in the heat, you'll have babies crawling out of the burrow to escape the heat of their furry nest. That's your sign to reduce the amount of fur in the nest.
On the other hand, there are not many good substitutes for rabbit fur. If you need to make a nest in the winter or change it before the kits are ready to hop out, these bags of extra summer fur can be a life saver.
The only thing I've found works in a pinch to sub for rabbit fur is goose or duck down. Definitely don't use anything synthetic. The kits can get tangled in the fibers.
